Great let's spend so much money that students can't afford

an education. In 20 years when I likely have kids in college will I the average Joe be able to afford it or are we building Clemson (and basically every other college) into a ghost town University that only millionaires can afford to send their kids to?

It is concerning to see the school's price continue to soar.

Here's an annual log of their tuition increases (to their credit, listed on the clemson.edu site):

$5,834 for my freshman year up to $8,886 for my senior ('02-03 -> '05-06). You can imagine the feeling I have when I get that annual call for alumni donations.

As for this decade of students, the board seems content with a 3% increase per year. The problem is that's 3% on quite a hefty number. $13,466/year... yikes. It certainly would've priced me out 10 years ago even with my grants and scholarships.
