California college football on the rise.

Oct 2, 2019, 1:36 PM

With the new rule that went into effect that states that college athletes can now be paid, I believe a lot of talent is going to flock to the state of California. Every talented kid from an impoverished background is going to give a serious look at schools like UCLA, Stanford, usc, etc. I think this could be a real shift. What do you all think?

There will be some knock down drag out court battles

fought in the next three years before this thing goes into effect. It could well be repealed before it ever gets enacted.

great.. they can have all the talent in the world. they certainly wont be competing for NCAA championships if things continue the way they are. the NCAA plans to ban the California schools from postseason. expect a California collegiate league to pop up.

"I love this place, I've got a spot already picked out where I want 'em to put me when I die - up there on that ole hill near the stadium. I want to be there so I can hear all them people cheering my Tigers on Saturdays; then I won't have to go Heaven; I'll already be there."- Frank Howard

Its going to start now! not in 2023. Boosters are probably already pulling out their wallets because they are going to hide behind the future law and say what are you going to do(?) we will fight it and by the time it gets settled it will be law. I bet Chip Kelly or Clay Helton from USC is already contacting a booster to try throw some dough DJ's way to get a change of commit. You wait, its going to happen to us and a lot of SEC team!

No, the bill goes into effect in 2023. If it happens now then under the current rule said players and colleges would be violating NCAA rules.

I think when they get to California and no one wants to pay them to use their name and likeness, they will immediately put themselves in the transfer portal.
