CFP Poll Head Scratcher.....Iowa at # 20.....

Let's examine their season, shall we?
Miami (Ohio)- W Rutgers- W at Iowa St.- W (I suppose this is a decent one) Middle Tenn St.- W at Michigan- L Penn State- L Purdue- W at Northwestern-W at Wisconsin- L
So, basically they lose 3 games to ranked teams. They have one good "top 40" type of win. And then it's a cupcake feast.
They may beat Minnesota this weekend....but up to this point, why do they have some sort of immunity that keeps them in the top 25? I guess all their losses were "close" or something.
I'm kind of shocked that Texas A&M isn't in....I mean their 3 losses are to better teams than Iowa has faced...and they also lack good wins.

Viola! Iowa magically pops in at #20 just before their match up.

I think the committee values the BIG as much as the SEC.

Agree - Wake Forest and UVA should be ranked above Iowa

Iowa's only claim to fame is having lost to other "ranked" teams and has a 6-3 record. Both Wake and UVA have better records and after watching Iowa play a couple of times, they would not beat Wake or UVA.
Until this year, I have felt the CFP Committee has done a good job. This current committee has a lot to be desired with some of their rankings...

Who cares? #20 is meaningless.

If it does boost Minnesota's SOS that's fine by me. They won't pass Clemson and if it helps knock a SEC team out of the CFP picture, I'm all for it.

I tend to agree. Here is A&M's schedule...
Nov 13, 2019, 8:21 AM
|
|
Texas State (W) @ (1) Clemson (L) Lamar (W) (8) Auburn (L) Arkansas (W) (1) Alabama (L) @ Ole Miss (W) Mississippi State (W) UTSA (W)
South Carolina @ (4) Georgia @ (1) LSU
By the end of the season, A&M will have played three different teams ranked No. 1 in the polls.

Yeah, the main reason I’m surprised about A&M is....

They are SEC and their ranking would help Bama. But their wins leave a lot to be desired. It’s feast or famine with their schedule. I guess Iowa’s win over Iowa St. gives them an edge. I bet A&M gets in after beating SCAR....if only to prop up UGA, who apparently is loved by the committee.

the committee feels like they owe something to UGa who got slighted last year which was ABSOLUTELY not the case.

My thought to is - at this point in the season, I don't see much reason for ANY 3-loss team to be in the top 25. Maybe what I mean is - does any 3-loss team truly DESERVE to be in the top 25? If so, I bet there'd be a dozen others with equally valid cases to be ranked.

If you think Iowa is bad, you should look at #17 Cincinnati.

I don't know how this team could be #17:
Wins: 4-5 UCLA 5-4 Miami OH 6-3 Marshall 7-3 UCF 7-3 (who is sitting behind Texas A&M & WF in the "others receiving votes" of the AP Poll) 3-6 Houston 3-7 Tulsa 3-7 East Carolina 2-8 Connecticut
Loss #2 OH State (Lost 42-0)
To go: 4-5 USF 6-3 Temple 8-1 #18 Memphis
