I’m hoping it will be Thompson or Williams. Can’t have to many good receivers on the field if the QB is on target!

True what's your projected stat line?

Re: Breakout player (2018)

Shaq Smith is my leading candidate. There's a few others who I think could have big years, but maybe wouldn't be considered "breakout" players because everyone kind of expects them to be good, like Albert Huggins, Tee, Trayvon Mullen, and then of course, T Law

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My first thought, also...***

So DL is out because it won’t be a surprise.

Jun 18, 2018, 11:59 AM

Not sure we would be able to mention either qb under this logic. I’m not sure I’d call Etn a breakout because he has high expectations. I know you didn’t ask who we would like but I’m hoping we have a breakout in the dbs. I’ll go Isaiah Simmons there or Logan Rudolph for linebacker. And hopeful tee Higgins and etn just take a natural step forward but again I won’t count those as breakouts per se

Re: So DL is out because it won’t be a surprise.

+1 for isiah Simmons

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

When did Logan move to LB?

Jun 18, 2018, 1:30 PM [ in reply to So DL is out because it won’t be a surprise. ]

He has been exclusively at DE AFAIK.

Snowflake Basher........Out

This is where I got it maybe it’s a mistake because you’re right he was defensive end

Player? As in a single player? I don’t know where to start.

Jun 18, 2018, 12:04 PM

We don’t rebuild. We reload.

Jun 18, 2018, 12:05 PM

Single player

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We are going to have several.

Jun 18, 2018, 12:12 PM

Are we talking about someone everyone expects to have a breakout year, one of our true freshman, or maybe a sleeper candidate that has redshirted or has otherwise been waiting their turn behind other playmakers?

Re: We are going to have several.

The later.

I will go with LeAnthony Williams.***

Re: Breakout player (2018)

Jun 18, 2018, 12:07 PM

One that’s no one is talking about right now- Garrett Williams hopefully we can get the production from the TE position that we have been used to with Allen, Ford, and Leggett.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Re: Breakout player (2018)

Jun 18, 2018, 12:11 PM

Agreed on Garrett Williams. He should take a ton of pressure off kb with his blocking and downfield catching ability. Huge upgrade over Milan Richards.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Disagree - in what way do u consider Williams

Jun 18, 2018, 7:02 PM

an upgrade at TE over Richard?

Re: Breakout player (2018)

Jun 18, 2018, 12:20 PM [ in reply to Re: Breakout player (2018) ]

There’s a bad echo in here. I mentioned Williams earlier and I truly expect him to be a very valuable player as a receiver and a blocker. He will surely help ETN get even bigger holes to run through. We missed Williams more last year than many believe.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

thats a good one

Jun 18, 2018, 1:52 PM [ in reply to Re: Breakout player (2018) ]

Need more production from position so I'd be happy if it's Williams, Galloway, or Milan

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Would like Mark Fields to finally realize his full potential

Jun 18, 2018, 12:09 PM

I remember how excited we were about his "decootment".
Injuries and adjustments have slowed him, but hopefully
it all comes together for his senior season. Would be
great to get at least All-ACC type production.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

IMHO Trayvon and AJ Terrell are miles ahead of Fields

Jun 18, 2018, 7:08 PM

in terms of coverage skills in games. That is what my eyes tell me. Can't say what happens in practice.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

here’s my list

Jun 18, 2018, 12:10 PM

KVon Wallace (he’s played a good bit but I think he takes the next step and has a great year)

Trevion Thompson (same as KVon)

Kyler McMichael (opportunity to play early at CB if needed)

Lyn-J Dixon (if one RB goes down he can get some carries)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Breakout player (2018)

Jun 18, 2018, 12:36 PM

He's already made a lot of big plays and is one of my favorite players on the team, but I think K'Von Wallace is really going to assert himself in our secondary this year. Think he will have a really big year

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Breakout player (2018)

Jun 18, 2018, 12:46 PM

Higgins is expected, so I would say Amari rodgers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Somehow Dabo has Tee as co-starter and Rodgers at a starter

Jun 18, 2018, 7:15 PM

WTH? So to Dabo, Tee is not all that.

Same thing with Dexter Lawrence. Give me a team with TL, TH, AJT and Dex as starters over KB, TT, MF and Huggy, and I will take TL and Dex's team with the balance of starters the same to win 9 of 10 games. No offense to 2nd tier starters, but NFL talent is NFL talent.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

a few

Jun 18, 2018, 12:58 PM

Amari Rogers -- I hope to see him do what Artavis did.

Choice -- one more last hooray before graduating. I doubt he breaks out per se but i'd like to see him have a really good final season.

Huggins -- He will be rotational but I'd like to see his name in the press clippings to bump his draft stock

Galloway -- obviously coming in as a true freshman and two upper classmen in front of him it'll be tough but i'd like to see him do big things down the middle of the field.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hoping to see Huggins rotating in early and often

Jun 18, 2018, 7:17 PM

Great skills. Great attitude. Wish he would have redshirted a year. And still hopes he gets some NFL love.

Re: Breakout player (2018)

Jun 18, 2018, 5:37 PM

Shaq Smith. He's a thoroughbred who's been biting at the bit. I think he's going to be a monster at weak side LB.

Re: Breakout player (2018)

Jun 18, 2018, 7:45 PM

I'd like to see one our TE's step up and become more of a receiving threat. That was something we seemed to lack last year..JC Chalk intrigues me for some reason. He's built more like a FB and reminds a bit of Jack Nicklaus' grandson from FSU a few years back. A player like that is a match up problem for opposing D's and could open up our downfield passing game for our young WR's.. I'll go with Chalk.
