most people do not know that the real ramblin wreck was stolen by Harvard students during the 1937 Havard GT game in Atlanta. Harvard Students were some how able to get the wramblin wreck hoisted up to the top of the Spire of the Westin Hotel downtown. Atlanta fire and rescue squad tried to remove the car, but it fell 53 stories to the street and they were never able to repair it.

In 1961, a new 1930 Ford Model A Sport coupe was donated to the program by Ted Turner, who said at the time, "if you get a single scratch on it, I will sue all of you into poverty." And since then, GT has been using a replica of the original and not the real thing.
