Anybody driving to Arizona?

Jan 6, 2016, 9:42 AM

Just curious as that's the plan I have. (Terrified of flying.) Just need some moral support for the trip.

I'm not driving this time but have driven from.......

Atlanta to Phoenix and/or Tucson several times before. It's a long ride but not a bad one.

You can do it as it's interstate most if not all the way!

Keep your camera ready for pics. It's a great trip that I have made many times when I was in school, in Phoenix. There are some pretty awesome sites just from the interstate with the exception of crossing Texas. That's a long boring drive seeing nothing but oil wells and dead armadillo's. Just keep one of those west coast truckers that's doing 90 mph in close site and put Texas behind you in a hurry bc you won't miss anything. I hate planes also, and if I was going, I would drive. The only way I will fly is bc they haven't built a road across the ocean yet. Good luck, have a safe trip, Go Tigers, and bring the NC back making the trip worth every mile!!!

What about going up through Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico on I 40? Thought about going that way. Thoughts?

I 40 is awesome scenery - you will land in Flagstaff instead

I've only been up I-20 to I-10 right up into Phoenix. New Mexico is beautiful if you like mountains and huge rocks. It looks like John Wayne country to me....

Hey; When are you leaving and would you have room for one more? Was considering driving myself.

I wish someone would charter a bus from SC to AZ

Jan 6, 2016, 3:47 PM

I'd be on board with that idea.

Why not just fly though?

Just don't assume you've got it made ...

...when you get to some place like Austin or Dallas.

West Texas takes FOREVER to drive across!

I have driven from CA to SC. Took about 2-3 days if I remember correctly and they were 10-12 days in the car. We were pretty stir crazy once we arrived. I would give yourself a day of rest when you gt there. Maybe arrive on Saturday and you can recover on Sunday. Have fun! I am envious. All my buds are going.
