An idea whose time has come: Year round football

Dec 14, 2018, 4:02 PM

It's coming. You skinny jean wearing, mockiotto sipping, f-bomb droppers better get used to it. I heap scorn and derision upon your puny and weak eight team playoff.

We all want to know -- no, we DESERVE to know beyond any doubt whatsoever -- which team is the best, regardless of the wear and tear on the players. We're all sick of, "Yeah, they lost two games, and okay they got spanked mercilessly in one of them, but they should have a shot at being m-----f------ National Champs anyway because fairness." And we're also weary of, "But they ain't played nobody."

Here's the solution. You ready?

Year round football. 130 teams. Everybody plays everybody. We'd have games every two days from January 2 to February 16, then from February 19 to December 31 there would be games every three days. Whoever has the best record on December 31 is declared National Champions.

Our schedule would look like this:

1/2/2019 Air Force (H)
1/4/2019 Akron (A)
1/6/2019 Alabama (H)
1/8/2019 UAB (A)

Haven't you always wanted to see a game in some of these venues? Against some of these teams? This is a fan's dream! And injuries would actually go down because the players would be in such great physical condition.

No more conferences. Don't need 'em. No more committees. Don't need 'em. No more bowl games. Don't need 'em.

There may be some kinks to work out, but it is very important to have head-to-head competition as well as maintain historic rivalries. This solution does just that.

It's coming. Too much money involved not to. And solves every problem with the current feeble four team playoff.

You're SECOND paragraphed pretty much told me how delusional you are.
Good luck in selling this to the NCAA!
P.S.We don't DESERVE anything other than to enjoy watching these young men play a sport we all LOVE while they try to get an education which will go a lot farther considering most of them will never realize their DREAM of seeing a pro football check.

Because of my merchant mariner status and the constant absenteeism from my life I usually am only available for about 2 or 3 games a year .
This schedule however.... this schedule would really improve my attendance .
I vote yes , big yes .

Don't think it'd work.

Saban won't play an out of conference away game.

Um, No. This would give the Heels an advantage over those of us who expect our players to go to class and write papers and pass exams & graduate.
