Am I the only one who thinks a Bye is BAD for FSU?

Oct 10, 2013, 12:21 AM

Let's face it, FSU has been rolling. Regardless of who it was, they badly blanked a division one team. That's impressive.

Now they have a bye. Winston is a good QB, but he's still young. What if he sits there on Saturday and watches us dismantle a BC team that they struggled with?

Time to think is not what FSU needs right before the biggest ACC game in recent memory. Just IMO.

I agree

Byes are bad for offenses and good for defenses usually. Not sure how much they can prepare for when chad Morris will probably invent some new stuff while he sits on the toilet.

Me too.***

You win sir.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't know that it's necessarily a good thing, except

Oct 10, 2013, 9:18 AM

maybe to get healthy.

You don't call a timeout in basketball when you score 20 straight, I don't think you want a bye week in football after you win 63-0. It's a momentum thing, you want to keep it going for sure.

The only thing a BYE is good for is recovering from injuries

Oct 10, 2013, 12:39 AM

I'm more interested in seeing how my tigers play against FSU than how well Winston does or does not do.

Could both play for a national championship and played each other in the regular season.

can be a good thing for us. Keep the rust off us and hopefully put some on them.

It definitely is

Oct 10, 2013, 6:39 AM

We'll get a lot better playing BC than we would scrimmaging against ourselves.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We have seen progression from our team every week

Oct 10, 2013, 12:55 AM

Since NC State. I have no n to believe another week of glorified practice will hurt us.

Way there offense has been rolling, having a bye will probably hurt them more than help them, hope im right, and they get out of that groove they been in, and hope they get caught up in all the hype thatll be going on next week while stay grounded!

All, you need to be prepared for the line Sunday..

Re: Am I the only one who thinks a Bye is BAD for FSU?

Oct 10, 2013, 4:28 AM

I don't necessarily think it's good or bad.
However it is timing, and we have have to deal with it.
My only concern is a maxium effort Saturday against B.C.
and that we get a win ( we will) and have no major injuries.
Then we can start getting ready for FSU.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Actually, 6317, I was thinking the same earlier this week,

Oct 10, 2013, 5:02 AM

then trying to justify my reasoning.

Although the bye does give FSU an extra week to prepare, as well as recover from injuries, etc., I'm not so sure that it's wise to stop a winning race horse in the middle of a race for a break.

The FSU crowd will believe they can use the extra time to gain a psychological edge; however, their eyes will focus on our game against BC. Should we have a superior game, then our staff and team will have an extra boost to their self-confidence to carry into our match up against the Seminoles.

Of course, we risk injuries, and some might suggest a certain amount of mental and physical weariness. However, I believe our staff is adept on managing the latter and will have them ready to play.

The immediate task at hand: run down the Hill Saturday with one goal in mind: make a powerful statement via a thorough defeat of BC.

No, I wholeheartedly agree

Oct 10, 2013, 6:36 AM

That's a lot of time to get rusty, to sit, to wonder. If they don't come out throwing punches Saturday, it could be a problem (for them).

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree with you

Oct 10, 2013, 7:37 AM

So does NCSU

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Different teams react differently.

Oct 10, 2013, 8:37 AM

I think Clemson responds poorly to a bye week. They do better when they are in a rhythm. Other teams seem to respond well to a rest, especially when they have a lot of injuries. Time will tell. Here's to hoping the off week leaves FSU rusty.

Re: Am I the only one who thinks a Bye is BAD for FSU?

Oct 10, 2013, 9:09 AM

I don't think it will have any effect on either team. For the magnitude of the game, both teams will bring their A-game.

Only time will tell if you are correct.
