Alabama logic on schedule

Apr 28, 2019, 9:57 AM

so, if Alabama had such a tough schedule,

Alabama average margin of victory:35.25 closest game: 22 point win, Texas A&M (at Bama)
Clemson average margin of victory:31.60 closest game: 2 point win, Texas A&M (at TAMU)

Bama did not struggle in a game until the SEC championship. So they were not getting 'beat up' and 'worn down' by a grueling schedule.

By all these numbers, Bama was cruising and should have been getting better and better. Not limping through a 'tough SEC schedule'.

If their schedule was so tough and they had it so tough, why the large margin of victories?

I know why, because they're the 'best team in CFB history', right?

Well, that doesn't hold up because the 'best team in CFB history' should, at least, score a field goal in the second half of the NC game? Right? Maybe get a sack in the game? Maybe hold their opponent to 2 or 3 touchdowns? Maybe lead the turnover margin?

So what is it?

Here's what it is. Bama didn't have a tough game until they played the SEC Championship. In that game they scraped by their hardest opponent of the 13 games up to the CFP. The SEC 'juggernaut' of UGA (who lost to SEC 'juggernaut' LSU and #14 Texas)

They drank their own koolaid of this 'SEC tough schedule' crap and were convinced they had played the best and won!

Then they played a team from the ACC, who had a similar victorious season, but who had not been drinking the poison.

bottom line: Bama got soft playing a soft schedule and got chewed up when they hit a real team.

I don't care what they think. It doesn't matter. The winners don't have to worry about such things.

He's winning 22-5 as of this reply.***

If the SEC never had to play out of conference again

Apr 28, 2019, 10:05 AM

and the media voted the champion, they would never lose another Natty.

Pesky actual games always get in the way.

it was going to be an insult or excuse

Apr 28, 2019, 12:32 PM

Either way. Their schedule has them either more prepared or as it turned out it wore them down

Absolutely, and Saban was punch drunk by the end of the first half with a score of 31-16, then they staggered through the entire 2nd half and was shut out with a game ending 44-16. The worst Saban has ever been beaten in a college championship game in his college coaching career/history. ACC Clemson was to much for the best the SEC had to offer in the 2018-2019 NCG. Nuff said bc the stats says all that needs to be said!!!

When you see that, just send them this, noting it's how things looked week 13, prior to playing the Conference Championships:

I've never seen where anyone from Alabama used this

Apr 29, 2019, 1:56 PM

excuse. I've seen it many times here. Do you have a link where someone from Alabama said that their tough schedule was why they lost?

I've seen it all over Twitter, but it's typically coming from coots or other SEC teams' fans. Haven't really seen that one coming from Alabama fans.

I cannot give this s TU. Here's why.

Apr 29, 2019, 2:00 PM

It's a no win argument for us. It makes Clemson look at least as weak as Bama, no matter how you spin it. And we all know we're not because we curb-stomped them. If you're going to make the argument "the SEC wasn't that strong, thus Bama wasn't as strong as advertised," then you diminish our accomplishment. If you make the argument "they were beat up because their SEC schedule was stronger than our ACC sked," you diminish our accomplishment. If you believe we were just the better team regardless of all the other chatter, clutter and chit... then yes. We make our strongest case. The games are played for a reason.. to determine who's better. Period. And we did that. And left no doubt. So why bring all this up. There. Is. No. Doubt.

Bama was so use to SEC patsies rolling over on them, they didn't know what to do when someone fought back. They faced adversity and folded like a cheap suit.
