Admissions and choosing a major

I don't know if its the same as it was 10 or more years ago but I was told you have a better shot at getting into Clemson if you choose a less competitive major and then change your major after you've had a year or so under your belt, but with the amount of people applying with great resumes, I don't know if it would make a difference.

Acceptance is by college, so this is always the case.
