ACCN News - 7/16/19

Jul 17, 2019, 7:36 AM

ACCN is currently set to be in about 20 million homes
Expected to be in at least 50 million by launch
With a path to get to almost 70 million by then
ESPN Sr VP says more carriers will be announced "soon"
Already ahead of Big Ten launch (and Pac-12 currently)
Not likely to pass SECN - but could move into 2nd in year one
Enough subs to cover cost + a little more; right now GT AD projects at least $1M per team in year one, but that goes up as more cable companies sign up (especially Charter and Comcast)

Read the guys "Bold Predictions' . They are more like

Jul 17, 2019, 8:24 AM

something a kindergarten kid would come up with.Don't think the Orange Bowl will match up Syracuse and ND since they play regularly in the regular season. Other predictions are as bad.

As long as Cuse and ND do not play each other this season, which they don't, I can't see an issue with the Orange Bowl matching them up against one another, assuming the Orange is the second best team in the ACC and ND is the highest ranked team left after the other contract bowls and playoff spots have been filled. Typically, it is just rematches within the current season that they try to avoid.

Predictions aren't really "bold" unless you're willing to go out on a limb and risk looking stupid. For me, I'm getting used to looking stupid (or stoopit for any SEC fans who may be reading this).

Charter Spectrum has 28 million subscribers and Comcast

Jul 17, 2019, 9:56 AM

Has 30 million subscribers, signing those two would put the ACCN in 78 million homes, so those projections aren’t that unreasonable. Once basketball season starts Notre Dame, Syracuse, UNC, Duke, and Louisville will cause that number to push above 90 million homes. If Notre Dame was a full member the ACCN would hit at least 120 million homes.

I get the sense that they are confident Charter will sign up (thus getting to at least 48 million right there), but Comcast is the variable - if they do sign right away, first year profits will be good; if they sign up mid-year (i.e. basketball season), profits will be so-so. If it's not until their contract comes up for renewal, it will be disappointing...
