Not sure but wasn’t it posted last year after the games were over Clemson Athletics actually lost money. I’m assuming by the time tickets, airfare lodging etc for everyone in the athletic Dept, their families, players families, Administration etc. Does IPTAY still pay expenses for Tiger Rag

Virginia Tech has reported "losing" money on bowls before. It's all accounting, not real. The CFP pays travels expenses for the team only, but then the team may agree to pay for the band, parents of the players, professors, etc. - which all adds up to "losing money". Don't sweat it - it's a big event and the schools don't mind going over budget a little.

By the way, I realized I forgot to give the Big Ten and Pac-12 credit for their Cotton Bowl money. The correct totals should have been:
ACC: $68,540,310
B1G: $61,326,060 (now only $7.2M behind the ACC)
Pac: $34,969,568 (now $33.5M behind the ACC)
SEC: $50,535,612 (still $18M behind the ACC)
XII: $33,992,000 (still $34.6 behind the ACC)

Nonetheless, I expect the Big Ten and SEC to make it up next year. Not sure about the other two.
