36 years ago today

Sep 22, 2020, 1:21 PM

On this day , Sept. 22, 1984, Kevin Butler kicked a 61 yard field goal for Georgia at the end of the game to beat the Tigers. I was there. Broke my heart. Was anyone else there ?

Shitford Stadium. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer not having mini bottles, and other stuff thrown down on me from upper stands.

Yes I was there. I had a bad feeling about that kick before he even lined it up.

still remember walking back to the car after the game and getting pelted with debris from UGa fans.

We were parked at the Holiday Inn and had to walk under the Sanford Drive bridge where a bunch of their fans were standing.

Yep, I was there. Saw the officials leave the field when we ran out of bounds with time left. 3 redneck Dawg fans wanted to fight me as I started down; a giant Dog fan escorted me out. The 3 idiots attacked an older Tiger fan behind me. Last time I went to Athens. Always felt we should have won that one.

That was my last time too. This little Ga. redneck wanted to fight me too but his friends pulled him away. When I left the stadium 3 Ga. fans were jumping up and down on top of a brand new Camaro with a tiger tag on it. I did not stick around to see what happened.

thx for the crap reminder - i remember tigers returning kickoff afterward and we got deep into uga territory. i honestly thought tigers were going to take it all the way back. probably was the alcohol talking.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

Why yes I was.......But Treadwell paid them back and twice

Do you remember when Donald I and Butler traded kicks from the 50?

I was there and went to GT the next week. I can say that was the worst 2 week in Ga. Clemson has had that I remember.

When we (my wife and I) went to GT we sat beside a very nice older GT couple that shared their boiled peanuts with us. It was nothing like UGA the week before.

I was in Athens for the Butler kick, that was the last time I saw Clemson play in the state of Georgia! I had been to Athens in 78, 80, and 84. GT in 72 and 82 (lost, had TD called back for too many players on the field) and 1979 Peach Bowl loss to Baylor!

I use to work for a company that gave us tickets to Clemson games. The away games were always on the home side on the 50 yrd line. After the game 36 yrs ago I never been back to Athens. My wife was afraid I would end up in jail in Athens so we never went back. Most likely a good thing. I always wonder what happened to the Camaro those 3 kids destroyed jump up and down on it. I never heard.
