2015 was not that long ago

We had the best QB in college football and one of the best defenses.
We walked out of the cockroach barely escaping defeat.
The thing that worries me about this game is a true freshman QB needing to bail us out if they are able to find a spark on offense.

5 points? Might as well have been 12. You coots had no shot of winning that game at the end. Garbage TD. Nice try coot.

Our defense is quite a bit better this year. That team

had a habit of getting out to leads and then playing poor defense in the 2nd half and letting teams back in games. That was especially true late in the year. Our defense was terrible in the last ~25 minutes of the South Carolina game.
This team doesn't do that. Our offense may sputter a little early in the game, but our defense is going to dominate for 60 minutes.

That team almost won a national championship.
If we’re “quite a bit better” I hope you’ve already bet your life savings on us to win it all....

All trash talk aside TigerandCubs is spot on in his assessment.

SC is not winning Saturday just like in spite of our D crapping in the bed and making a lot of games closer than they should’ve been in 2015 SC was not going to win in 2015. DW toyed with them just like he did every time he played them. Double digit win for Clemson Saturday easy.

Did they stop him? Ever? Slowed him down yes but not when it mattered and not when he wanted it bad enough. “Toying” is the word the announcer used in the 2016 game if I remember correctly. Yes DW toyed with SC and a lot of other opponents. No reason to be mad when it’s true.

a national title. I said our defense is quite a bit better and i can back that up with plenty of evidence. However, i also don't think our offense is quite as polished right now (although the upside is clearly there), and we have stiffer competition this year. 2018 Bama is a better team than 2015 Bama. That team had Jake Coker at QB.. this one has Tua. And the other two teams in the playoff are going to be stronger than 2015 Oklahoma and 2015 Michigan State as well.

2015 defense vs. 2018 defense
Nov 19, 2018, 6:44 PM
|
|
The 2015 defense was #10 giving up 313 yards/game. The 2018 defense is #2 giving up 254 yards/game.
The 2015 defense was #17 giving up 4.85 yards/play. The 2018 defense is #1 giving up on 3.77 yards/play.
The 2015 defense was #24 giving up 21.7 points/game. The 2018 defense is #1 hold opponents to merely 12.1 points/game.
We didn't barely escape defeat in 2015. They scored a TD with 0.01 left to make the game look closer than it appeared. Our best defensive players don't have their eyes looking to the NFL draft as in 2015. Neither are they beat up from playing 500-600+ snaps like 2015. Our 2018 defense is rested and laser focused and the starters haven't given up a TD since September.

I’m glad someone decided to use stats instead of typing crap like Jcoot.
Also, outside of Deshaun and maybe Legget I think this offense is better. Too late for stat lookup but for sure RB is better, WR better, OLine equal or marginally better, and QB slightly worse but dang I love that ceiling.
Long story short I’m not worried. Jake has already thrown 2 picks just worrying about that front 4.

That coot team was also recruited by slurrier. This coot team was recruited by moose champ. Big difference, ...and not in s good way.

Muschamp is a much better recruiter than Spurrier.

for a combined 79 points and 1,145 yards.
Picture that kind of offensive output combined with a defense with an actual pulse.

To me, the main difference in this team and the 2015 team is the snap counts of each player. At the end of 2015, we were banged up bad. We let so many teams stay in games late that year and our first stringers had to play so many snaps. Several guys on that D looked like they were barely held together with duct tape. Remember that shoulder brace the Boulware had to wear? And our DE were constantly limping around. This year, both sides of the ball - so many more fresh legs and quality backups to roll out there. I enjoy watching good games but I'm hoping Dabo hangs 70 on them....just for all that bottle throwing!

At least one of you Scar fans still has hope. I think everyone else has given up.
I wish I could dig back up all the preseason threads and everything the Scar fans were saying. That would really be a good laugh
