Very suprised that we have no Thursday night games playing
Feb 14, 2011, 2:12 PM
|
|
at GT, VT, and NC St.
Looking at it though we don't have many "tough" games on the road, just VT, and GT.

VT, NCST, Mary, UNC, and GT all lost a ton of starters. All but Maryland lose their multi yr starting QB. Then again, so did we, but hopefully this infusion of offesive talent and the new offesive playbook will win us some games. We did lose a butt load of deffense though.

Thank god we at least got # 1 recruting class when it comes to LB slots. 2 out of 3 LB positions were # 1 in there spot. God if Bowers came back i wanna cry thinking about how sick our defense would have been with top LB recruting class and bowers and crew. O well all I can say is I hope LB squad makes impact quick and loud.

Worst schedule ever
Feb 14, 2011, 3:08 PM
|
|
As far as the set up is concerned. The first four games, at home, during one of the hottest months of the year? Horrible...and I don't care if I am "quacking like a duck," because I have a hard time yelling or "quacking" when it's so hot outside.

I see at least 3 or 4 ----- 12 NOON GAMES in there
Feb 14, 2011, 3:10 PM
|
|
I know Auburn and Florida STATE should not be NOON games and hopefully Troy is not because of hot weather and no TV probably. But I see a good chance the other 4 Homegames could get bumped to NOON because of TV.

holy crap that schedule sucks. What horrible timing. We have to play Auburn FSU and Virginia Tech all in a row? We have only 2 home games during all of October and November? That is the worst deal I can remember in a long time.

And force the ACC to spread out the pain.
Maybe in week 2 instead of a joke game we go on the road to an ACC game and not have it so front loaded.

Feb 14, 2011, 3:56 PM

it's not that bad of a schedule. I don't care for the Auburn, FSU, VT stretch, but every team has some annoyances with its schedule. Overall, I don't see any extended road streaks which is great news for us. I think they could release a schedule of 12 home games and some of you would still complain...

Yes, it's tough, but we just need to take care of business and let the chips fall where they may.

Playing Wofford and the defending National Champ sounds interesting. Can't wait to see William Perry take on Herschel Walker. Oh' my bad that was last time.

Sept. 3 TROY Sept. 10 WOFFORD Sept. 17 AUBURN Sept. 24 FLORIDA STATE Oct. 1 at Virginia Tech Oct. 8 BOSTON COLLEGE Oct. 15 at Maryland Oct. 22 NORTH CAROLINA Oct. 29 at Georgia Tech Nov. 5 OPEN Nov. 12 WAKE FOREST Nov. 19 at NC State Nov. 26 at South Carolina
Honestly, anything less than 9-3 will be inexcusable. Troy and Wofford are gimmes - good to get Boyd lots of reps. Auburn and FSU at home - these are winnable games in the Valley. Va. Tech on the road - not much of a chance winning this one on the road although Tech will be overrated as usual. BC at home - vengeance from last year up in CH. Maryland has a first year HC and Clemson normally plays well up in College Park. UNC at home - winnable. Tech - they lost a lot last year - winnable even though in Atlanta. Weak Forest at home - W. At NC State - Wilson is gone most likely - doubt we win if he returns. SC will be a contender to win the SEC title. Don't see the Tigers winning this one which will suck considering it will be 3-in-a-row, but anything can happen in this game.

I wouldn't fear this schedule at all, IF the program wasn't in such a weakend, eroded...questionable state as it is today.
If Morris & Caldwell somehow produce an over-achieving OL with the tier2 talent we have, and TBoyd matures fast (quickly learns the play-book) over the spring & summer, I wouldn't have such skepticism. I am praying to the "Tiger Gods" DAILY! Go Tigers!

We have some whiners and some overly optomistic fans here
Feb 15, 2011, 2:30 AM
|
|
First of all, just go to the games you can go to and give the tickets to other Clemson fans to the games you can't make. Enough whining.
Secondly, What makes anybody think we will win 9 games? The inexperienced QB, WR, LB, and K really have me wondering. I know we had a good recruiting class, but those guys will still be freshmen.
I will be hopeful that we can win any and every game but I do not expect to. We could easily end up with only 4 or 5 wins this year if the bounces, kicks, and penalties don't go our way, or we have injuries, etc. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle though... 7 wins.
