2 way players... Anybody remember Gordy Lockbaum?

I don't understand the whole, "not enough scholarship players". Has the "toxic masculinity" crowd taken over the sport? What has happened to our bravado to where we cannot expect walk-on's to play or more talented players to play both ways? This makes the best stories! Most of us that played even middle school football had to play both ways if you didn't have enough players to make out a team. Go to any high school football game this weekend and you will see players playing both ways.
If I was coaching the Arizona Cardinals and the game came down to Hail Mary/Jump ball situation for the opposing team, I wouldn't hesitate to put DeAndre Hopkins in as a defensive back--guess what? He just played both ways!
I don't recall which team but one college last Saturday had a player playing both ways. Did anyone see that?

That's a better conversation than having to listen to someone reminiscing about dudes going both ways.
That's for sure!

Absolutely, Thanks for posting. I thought the article short changed him some as he was also punter, placekicker, receiver, and back up quarterback. In some games he never left the field.

In 1992 Troy Brown (NFL 1993-2007) did it all at Marshall. The primary WR, KR & PR. By the end of the season, MU had so many injuries he also played the nickel back.
In his last game, the national championship (I-AA), on the last play he made an INT.
TL/DNR last I know of was in 1992

And he did it pretty successfully in the NFL for the Patriots when called up to do some fill in duty at DB.
