Camping world stadium in Orlando

Oct 20, 2016, 3:10 PM

I have heard the area directly around is kind of sketchy. Are there decent hotels / restaurants within walking distance? If not where is a good area to be without being totally immersed in Disney?

A bit sketchy...

You wouldn't want to walk around at night. Would not stay anywhere within walking distance of the stadium. With that said, lots of hotels not super close to Disney----but do understand almost ALL hotels cater to Disney/Universal, etc.... by providing shuttle buses, etc....
Again, plenty of very nice hotel (Marriott/Ritz Carlton, etc....) options not super close to the theme parks.

I live in Longwood which is a little north of Orlando. Yea the stadium is in a sketchy area but I would say it has gotten better from the early 2000s and the tangerine bowl days. As for as hotels try to stay north of the 408 and east of I4 if you're looking to stay in the downtown area. The bars downtown are great but they're a good walk or shuttle bus ride from the stadium. For a family friendly place check out Thorton Park, it's a hike from the stadium but quite a bit nicer.

If you stay at any of the Universal Studios area hotels you are a short drive to the stadium. Kirkman Road or International Drive

you can stay by the stadium

but those motels charge by the hour. Orange Blossom Trail is a bit rough.

Thank God for the transgender restrooms, though.

yeah, it's a bit sketchy. Went to TTU massacre there in 2002 and actually saw a hooker in the middle of the day a few blocks from the stadium. Of course that was 14 years ago, but i doubt it's a stellar neighborhood now either.

The good news is there's ton of parking at the stadium and it's safe. Plenty of room to tailgate and all too.
