Draftee's Houses

Apr 23, 2020, 11:07 PM

I'm amazed at the houses that we're seeing as each of tonight's draftees are selected. Obviously, superior athletes also have families that are doing something right. Congratulations.

I’d bet there are “people” that host families with lesser than stellar means for TV sake.

hearing some of these kids stories i would assume that would be the case..not a knock on the kids by any means but many of them come from bad situations and they dont get their advance on the cash until they get drafted

you can get advances from your agent

And many ah e already signed endorsements. That said I imagine most have been their actual homes. They’ve been kind of all over the board which is what I’d expect

All I can say is I dated a real estate agent...

who found her niche in finding housing locations that would qualify as Section 8 housing for large families. She worked with contractors who would buy then would do nice upgrades in 1500-2000sf houses as Section 8 housing. Then basically the family that qualifies pays whatever they can and the state pays the difference guaranteed of the going rate for that sized house in Charleston area. Then, if family makes too much money to qualify, or dont meet their minimums, then the state pays the owner/contractor to repair home to original state. So they make money of repairs, then make it nice again then Section 8 it again at the current going rate in that area. Mind you, going rate doesn't always mean local Section 8 rate, it could have high income houses within blocks and they would qualify in the comps. So then new family gets newly remodeled house usually for 25% range and state pays the balance. All money guaranteed as well as repairs to owner of dwelling.

It's crazy the money families spend for Section 8, like their rent might be $400 for a $1800mo house. Plus the state pays for all AC repairs, Hot water repairs, etc. The people that have learned this system, both the renters and the contractor/owners are making out! My ex tried to get me into Section 8 going on 15yrs ago and I thought the new Custom home biz was better, only because immediate return but those that stayed in Section 8 housing as contractors/owners, pretty much most are millionaires now and I had to file bankruptcy in 2008 housing disaster.

That can explain some residents but overall, I think the media likes to make you think many are under privileged when they really are not. Enough Socialistic bills have passed where most live in pretty equal accomodations in the US.
