"Honestly, there wasn't much of a difference between Clemson and UGA. At the end of the day, Clemson fans just showed me more love on Twitter. Clemson had more middle-aged guys re-Tweeting and favoriting and following my posts than Georgia."

You should be careful quoting people, particularly quotes that are not theirs.

I think what tipped the scales was riding by his house and having my little girl knock on the front door, wearing a Clemson cheerleading uniform and asking "Mista Huggins to be a Tiga" way past her bedtime for a total of 17 times.

Parody is definitely protected under the 1st amendment. I think he'll be able to avoid jail time in this instance.

Point LOL - but perhaps it was just the opposite ...

Kinda creepy to have middle aged men following 18 year olds on Twitter.

to see. That is an NCAA recruiting violation

NORMAN — With the regular season finished and high school All-America games — and, of course, lots of major recruiting announcements — nearing, I’ve noticed an increase in Twitter activity between fans and recruits.

Now seems like as good a time as any to remind everyone: If you tweet at a recruit and encourage him to attend your favorite school, you’ve committed an NCAA recruiting violation.

It doesn’t matter that you’re not a donor, a season-ticket holder or even affiliated with the university in any official capacity. You can’t publicly lobby a recruit on behalf of a school.

For example, five-star running back Joe Mixon, one of the most coveted recruits in the 2014 class, tweeted Thursday afternoon, “Where are them Oklahoma Fans at?! #BoomerSooner”

As of 9:30 p.m. Thursday night, 172 people had retweeted it, and dozens more responded with things like “Boomer!” and “Boomer Sooner!”

All. NCAA. Violations.

I'm sorry but there's no way that can be right. Absolutely no way the NCAA could, or should be allowed to enforce that.

It is true..rarely enforced, but true. They consider it the same as a booster talking to the recruit in person and encouraging him to come the their school.

You never know when the ncaa will be looking and enforcing that rule. Some school last year almost had to stop recruiting a kid because of twitter and facebook comments from fans.

a booster is affiliated with the school. a fan isn't.***

portion, but its been my experience that cu250 doesn't make stuff up.

If you'd prefer a response from Clemson's Compliance Dept, call 864.656.1580 on Monday morning.

Wonder what everyone on here would have said if he would have picked Georgia for this reason lol

Well, that's one question that requires no afterthought,

Posted: Dec 13, 2014 5:51 AM

if for no other reason than he chose Clemson.

Now, on to the bowl game....
