Why is everyone stressing over the Woulard vs Watson debate?

With the offensive scheme we run under Morris and this being type of offense Dabo wants to run with or without Morris then we should only recruit dual threat QB's of Watson's and Woulard's caliber. And Chad Kelly as well. For those saying that taking Woulard is risking losing Watson. What you are implying is like saying "Stop dating the super hot blonde because the super hot brunette gave you her number". Either way its a win win.
Lets look at this another way. Tajh is qb1 in 2013. Kelly is qb1 in 2014 and Woulard red shirts 2013. Supposing both these guys are good to great qbs then we are set at the position until at least 2016 and probably 2017 if Woulard plays his senior year. Thus everyone is worrying about something that won't effect us until 2017 or 2018 IF Watson doesn't choose to be a Tiger. Also we have already offered a stud qb from Texas for 2015 (same high school as Dylan Summer-Gardner).
No matter what Watson does we will be good to great at the qb position for a long time to come.

we have to take any commitment from a high profile prospect with a huge grain of salt these days. That's not a knock on any player, program, etc. because they all have the right to look around I guess. It's just the way things are these days I guess.
I hope we can hold onto Watson AND land Woulward. Go Tigers baby.

By the time all these players have used up their eligibility, a dual threat quarterback may have no use for anyone. The game changes often. Remember when a drop back passer was the 'must have'? Even today, that is what the most successful NFL guys are doing. A dual threat guy is always at risk for injury. That is why coaches like to have more than one or two on the roster. Just a few years ago I was sure that the major college teams would all be running the option. Boy was I wrong about that.

The staff have been recruiting Woulard for a while.

They knew they had 2 holes opening up, (possibly 3) Boyd could have went pro, Roberts going to Yale and there will be an announcement soon that McNeil is done with FB because of injuries.
Woulard is a replacement for those 2, while at the same time being a huge insurance policy against either Kelly or Watson not working out.

what if Watson were to get injured next season? Then what?

I wouldn't wish that on any kid. Just saying what if you don't take Woulard and then Watson blows out a knee?

I think TB coming back actually solidifies Kelley's chances of being a starter. If he had to compete for it this year he would probably win but he might not. then it would be harder to displace stoudt as leader of the team. With another year and after this years competition we probably have a there year starter. which means.
Woulward after a redshirt would be intended to be a 2 year starter - seems like a humble kid and knows he needs to be developed.
Then Virgil in the class of 2015 comes in and redshirts and becomes a mature 2 year starter.
IMO Watson has indicated that his commitment is less than solid. So Get a good QB now. if we miss we always have time to recruit Watson for 2014. and if we do that then the Virgil kid from Texas is easier to get in 2015

If Watson enrolls next January and Woulard commits now then

Woulard will be playing WR at 6'3" 205 lbs and 4.5 40. No worries either way. If Watson goes elsewhere then we develop Woulard at QB 1 year RS and 2 years behind Kelly.
It's a win, win situation

Not stressing at all here!!
Ultimately, whichever one we land (If not both) will be ALL IN, so we will get the one that wants to lead CLEMSON into greatness!!
Its alllll good!!!!

Gotta get who we can, when we can. Commitments from high profile recruits have proven to be worthless these days. Watson may end up at Clemson, but in the process he will jerk us around. I don't think we get Watson without Morris and with another good season that we are likely to have I don't think we hang onto Morris after this year.
Watson and Woulard seem to be in different classes though. At least from the chatter of interneters (whatever that is worth). Woulard is a good prospect, but Watson is projected to be a top 15 player.
Hopefully we can get both.

"... "Stop dating the super hot blonde because the super hot brunette gave you her number". Either way its a win win."
Well, that depends on what the super hot blonde was doing for you as opposed to what you think the super hot brunette will do for you.
Hint: You want the one who will say "Yes" to you and only you.
