so How long before playoff goes to 6 teams or 8 teams, now?

they could give a bye to the top 2 teams and do 6 teams or just go with 8 teams in playoff -- every conf champ plus a wild card or extra teams .....
I bet the 4 team playoff doesn't last long, especially after the seal is broken now .....

Are compared to the playoffs contract. Once you go to eight or more the bowls become a lot less valuable.

If they expand it to six, people would complain about that.

Same for 8, 16, whatever. The b-ball tournament has almost 70 teams, but they still have hour-long segments on why someone got a raw deal.

All you're doing by expanding it more and more is diluting the championship field. You're not going to eliminate controversy, by a long shot.

There would be plenty of controversy, still. We'd be arguing about how the committee included Miss St. instead of Michigan St. as an at-large, or something like that.

Needed an Ohio State or (any) SEC team to get screwed out of an appearance.
TCU and Baylor doesn't carry enough weight. Plus, the lack of a championship game give the committee a fall back reason.
Once a TX or a Bama or a ND gets left out...THEN changes will be made

based on the final rankings, the Big12 would have the upper hand as far as odds to win it over the SEC so my guess is the SEC pundits will view 8 teams as bad.
Plus, if GT had beat FSU, they likely would have been 8 meaning bama would probably lose the first game because they never play a triple option team and would have only a week to prepare. The SEC pushers really don't want 8, if they are honest.

I bet the NCAA is pleased with the results. It brought a lot of attention to the last few weeks . And it forced schools to play their stars all game to get style points.
