was the safety legit?

Oct 11, 2015, 10:45 PM

on the g tech botched snap / punt...

so, just wondering

the punter actually did kick the ball (while being dragged down or falling down..)

the ball is a line drive that hits a clemson player

at that point, isn't it a live football?

ball ends up getting knocked thru the end zone

how come this wasn't a touch back? (and subsequently tech football)

not complaining, just wondering

would have been a touchback if it rolled out of the end of

the other endzone.

It would have to land I the other end zone to be a touchback. Plus the punt never passed the original line of scrimmage so it remained a live ball(wouldn't be downed if it hit a defensive player)

Just give it up & move on, games over.

We're focused on BC now...not looking past them, not looking back.

GO TIGERS!

I thought the same thing at first but, after watching the replay, when the ball was punted it hit a Clemson player that was already past the line of scrimmage. That makes it a blocked punt. If he had not past the line of scrimmage and was hit by the ball it would have been a fumble.

Here's a cliff notes version for you

GT had the ball. It went out of the back of their end zone. That's a safety.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, we got 2 points for it, so the refs thought it was....

which at the end of the day.......

Shouldve been a block. I don't know the details of the rule but

Oct 11, 2015, 11:15 PM

I assume if the punt is touched behind the line of scrimmage its a block.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it was in essence a blocked punt

Oct 11, 2015, 11:16 PM

forget all the bad snaps and running around -- punter punted it, our guy blocked it (just from 10 yards away), it went out of the end zone. Safety.
