unc System President Asked To Resign (link)

Jan 16, 2015, 9:55 PM

the scandal claims yet another victim---and this time its not just the president of the unc faculty senate or a dept head either.....and yet the coaches of unc' men's and women's basketball team, men's and women' soccer, and the baseball coach, who were all involved, remain on salary.

be sure to check out the comments below the article. There are a bunch of people in NC who now feel the same way about Swoffie as most Clemson fans do....

Not to get all political, but this is the GOP leadership in NC running every Democrat out of town that they can. This guy oversees all the state universities, not just UNC-Chapel Hill....not really scandal related.

It's North Carolina's latest attempt to become Mississippi.

NC will be a lot better off when they succeed in running all of those crooked democrats out

Jan 16, 2015, 10:40 PM [ in reply to Re: unc System President Asked To Resign (link) ]

seem to be interested in responding to their constituency....and removing a lot of the old liners who were, by and large, connected to unc-ch--mainly as alums--at one time, just a few years ago, 75% of the members of the board had a degree from unc-ch. People of ALL political persuasions pay taxes in NC and have a vested interest in how its universities are run.....and its not just republicans or NCSt fans who have run out of patience with the old unc guard protecting the flagship at the expense of the reputation of every other school in the system.....and I am well aware Ross is president of unc SYSTEM.... I posted in the heading....not trying to begin an argument, but there are a lot of folks in NC who are not as stupid or blind as the former unc chancellor, the former unc athletic director, the former pres of the unc faculty senate, the former head of African-American studies, etc., thought they were....and that includes a fair number of alumni as well....and thats why there's a "FORMER" now in front of their names....and if you think the academic fraud scandal still ongoing at unc is not responsible for all those "FORMER" high level administrators being elsewhere, you're not paying enough attention.

Ross is no different. He may not have had the level of culpability as those on campus, but the buck stops at his desk

pure partisan politics

Jan 17, 2015, 8:08 AM

it's all about the conservatives trying to control everything

this had very little to nothing to do with the academic/athletic scandal.

the key is in this line:

"...a political shakeup that resulted in a near-complete turnover on the 32-member governing board."

Ross is seen as moderate to progressive. and the conservatives don't want open-minded real thinkers

the governing board knew what was going on

Jan 17, 2015, 8:14 AM

and did nothing. This is not over.

LMAO...as if the pure, innocent liberals don't want to control everything when they are in power! Get over it....the Republicans were voted in overwhemingly by the people of NC. Just maybe it was because they were tired of how the liberal Democrats had been "controlling" things for over 100 years!

No, those stupid, knuckle-dragging conservatives aren't smart enough to put a real thinker in that position...i.e., a liberal progressive. That is what you meant, right? Geez, typical elitist liberal BS! Give me a break! Be careful there tarheeltiger...your real stripes are showing through.
