Now that T3 and I have (cyber)hugged it out. This a chance for me to clear the air about my bad cop posts. I don't hate police, some of my best friends are police officers. The god-dad to my kids is a police officer (probly not much longer tho). Our other best buddy and is former cop too, was best man at my wedding.
I have a unique experience to be with police OFTEN, at testosterone filled cop bars and other events. When my friend first invited me cop bar, I was like no way, then took it as an opportunity to look behind the curtain. My friends warned me, similarly to the way I warned my passive wimpy father-in-law (whom never played sports) before we went into a football practice field and locker room.

cops of all levels talk freely in these spaces, esp when they get juicy and the booze is flowing. After all they are in liked minded company. It's often a lot of 1upsmanship on how they handled folks in certain situations. A lot of talk about teaching lessons and a lot of talk about not being disrespected or looking weak. That applies esp in the hood, and young POC. I ask a lot of questions like what would you do if....
In most of the answers its people have to do what I tell them to do. Even if unlawful. Many say straight up that their badge is their authority, the Tiger1988 stance.
When I ask about civil rights, the usual line is "we don't go out to infringe on peoples rights but F their rights. I have 2 goals"
1. to go home safe to their families (fear)
2. to get bad people off the streets, drugs, guns, etc.

If they have to trample your rights to achieve these goals they will.
an example: stop a guy that looks "suspicious". search him and find a gun, drugs whatever. Arrest the person, they bail out. the DA throws the case out, coz of unconstitutional search and seizure. but the guys doesn't get the gun or drugs back. and the cops gets no consequences for what he did. just the opposite. He gets seen as a bad ###, crackin heads on the streets. win /win

Not all cops feel this way, and often roll their eyes at the above cops. Thats right they kid each other and shake their heads at overzealous cops, but wont dare stop them in the act. Don't even get me started on the anti/task force cops...even other cops fear those guys. They are criminals with a badge often, to fit in, speak the language, know the tatoos, and bangers/drug dealers, and often have a weird reporting structure. my buddy says if it come across dispatch that me or my kids are stopped by them he is dropping everything and on his way

anyway I could go on and on and on.... but I think you get my drift here
