tiger defense

Jul 30, 2013, 6:38 PM

will chad help the d out by slowing the pace of the o if we have a lead? it will always be a hindrance to coach the d in a fast pace o like we have. I think chad inherited more talent on his side of the ball 2 years ago than bv inherited last year for his d. I think we will be much better on d this year, but will it be enough to win it all? this o has evolved into one that can run 100 plus snaps a game and score 40 plus points but it also effects our d greatly. quick scores or a 3 and out places a lot of stress on the d. should we keep attempting to score with a lead or temper the o and run some clock and help the d. I hope we can find the right formula.

Stop this nonsense about our fast pace O hurting our D

we ran 102 plays against LSU and the D did just fine, it's their job to get off the field.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Excellent reply! Improved d hopefully will mean ...

so you don't think a fast pace offense has any effect on a defense right? ok.

Our offense only hurts the defense

When they go 3 and out. I'd argue fundamentally changing what kind of team we are makes us more likely to do so than staying consistent with our offensive gameplan.

If the O is having several back-to-back 3-and-outs, there's

Jul 30, 2013, 7:03 PM

nothing the D can do about it other than try to do the same. If the O is running a 100 plays a game, either they are having sustained drives which probably led to scores -or- they're scoring so much that it won't make a difference what the D is doing. That said, I expect our D front-7 two-deep to be at least a top-10 group nationally. Our DBs will do just fine. The other added benefit of LB and DB depth will be most evident on the STs and kick coverage.

Score 1,000 and if we give up an extra TD who cares. He shouldn't slow down, but he can rely on the run more, which he isn't scared to do.

He'll stuff the run and control the clock. GT makes that tough, which is why they are scary.
