the one question no one is asking or pushing the committee

Posted: Dec 4, 2016 1:45 PM

OSU was seemingly safe going into the championship weekend... sitting at home, not playing an extra game.

If Michigan St. had beaten PSU on the last weekend, and tOSU wins the East and goes to Indy to play Wisconsin... would they have needed to win that game to get in? Would a loss have excluded them?

If the answer to those is yes...

something is off

bama could have lost yesterday

and remained number one..the playoff is a broken system it needs to add 2 more teams at the least

It would be hard to add just 2 teams but 4 makes a lot of sense. The problem I have with it is if you do not have to play a conference championship game then you get more rest than the other teams in the playoffs and this would be a big deal if you start adding more games. 1st Saturday in Dec. conference championships, 3rd weekend play the first round, New Years play the semi's and then wait a week and play Natty. It would be a big advantage to not have to play for a conference championship.

Exactly. Which is why I think Penn State should be in.

Won the conference and won head to head against OSU.

Why are division Champions "rewarded" with a "play OUT" game?

Penn State defeats Pittsburgh.. They are in.. That simple..

Win your games and you're in.. Was proven today with the nod given to Washington. They have proven they are looking at the ENTIRE body of work.. Which in Penn State's case.. included a 49-10 loss to Michigan and a loss to Pittsburgh. They finished strong and are a hot team right now.. But beginning of the season not so much.

It's difficult to answer that, but it's possible it would not have mattered. They would be lumped in with all of the 2 loss teams. Wisconsin would have the conference championship and then split H2H with OSU. Oklahoma, with a conference championship could also be in play, but OSU had a H2H against them as well. Michigan is probably still out in any case.

Whatever the committee saw with OSU up and thru the final week of the season probably wasn't going to change with them taking another loss.

What if OK had lost Bedlam yesterday?

Would the tarnish on OSU's signature have knocked them out?
