Dang, he just can't catch a break! NFL has not been kind to

JD. Get well soon and hope you have a speedy and full recovery.

Not a huge fan of the NFL and don't follow pro football much

so I don't know exactly what happens to a player when they're placed on the injured reserve (IR) list. Do they still get paid? Do they still have benefits? Can they still work out / use the team facilities for rehab? What exactly does IR mean for a player other than he's hurt and can't play?

I believe thats why they have IR

Oct 20, 2011, 3:32 PM

He gets paid and is retained by the team. If they weren't going to pay him they would just release him

Thanks.***

Re: I believe thats why they have IR- do you make league min

on IR or practice squad or is that only when you are zcivated. I swear JD has little actual game time for several years in the league. Unbelievable string of bad luck for the guy. I keep hoping he gets a chance somewhere sometime

I know right. Nothing has gone his way so far...

Oct 20, 2011, 4:06 PM

The sad thing is...RB's have like the shortest shelf life in the NFL. Most are pretty useless by 29.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

thats because they get banged up from playing

Oct 20, 2011, 7:37 PM

not sure how this effects his rate of degradation

With all the bad luck he has had. JD should be thinking about using his Clemson Education, and get a job. It surely looks like Fb isn't going to be his future.

Yeah, but you can make a good living on the squad.

Oct 20, 2011, 8:06 PM

There's no drawback to making $5,700 per week no matter what.

Will probably be out of the league soon. Backup RB's have very short careers.

The curse of Cleveland.....

Oct 20, 2011, 7:32 PM

Right when he was drafted by them, I knew it was a going to be a long road ahead of him in the NFL. Best of luck, JD.
