committing to the Coots? Does he come from a family of Gamecocks? Longtime fan? Does anyone know about our recruitment of him? I wonder if he does not fit the mold of what Dabo has established with our culture?

I honestly dont remember hearing much about our coaches recruiting him, altho better qualified members like TigerBry83 or Quozzel might have more recruit scoop.

I was told by some guys that know him well that 1) His sister goes to scar. 2) His mother wanted him at scar badly 3) that he wanted to be the man and go where he could really stand out. I asked them why he didn't go to Furman or PC then.
Don't want to go all sour grapes but honestly if you choose scar (5th rated academic institution in SC) over Clemson (#1 rated, Wofford 2nd) and it's football program you're so dumb we'll be happy to do without you.

From what I have heard, he wanted to play DE. We saw him as a DT and recruited him for that position.

I totally get the idea of playing for your dream school or the school you loved as a kid but this is where I shake my head regarding scar. Pickens had the opportunity to come play with the best, refine his skills, and hear his name called on NFL draft day. All this while playing on prime time TV and playing for a spot in the playoffs every year and winning championships.
I would say most of our guys have gotten better and refined their skills and increased their draft stock because they had to compete at the highest level at Clemson. Do you think Hunter Renfrow would be what he is today if he went to scar?? Probably a contributor but I doubt he would have achieved the level of performance he has at Clemson.
What is the draw to scar? An easier road to a starting spot with a 2 star lined up next to you and getting drilled by good teams and being competitive on the SEC network with lesser teams. Having to reschedule a 12th game to make sure you can go to a bowl that most of your fan base will not go to because you just got throttled by your in-state rival for the 5th time and more to come.

His mother controls 100% of his recruiting and according to his mother Anna Hickey put out a "false" article about her son that scratched us off of his list. That's the word at least. Pickens mother "loves" Muschamp they say.

Look into that program a bit, everyone except Muschamp is to blame. Muschamp has allowed Bentley to be the punching bag for every loss so far hence why he keeps starting him. Muschamp has a few more years left before the coots start realizing.
