Within our footprint and academic standards? Good luck. Raiding the B1G is the only option and they've obviously just made a big move to expand.

conferences laugh at us because it means 1 of our hands is tied behind our back? I mean they want the best sports conferences for their academic institutions and we want the best sports and academic conference? Checkers vs Chess?

Why don't Wofford come. They are almost ready to beat the coots.

Don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord Split ya!

Nov 19, 2012, 10:44 AM [ in reply to Wow. The ACC just got ]

Good riddance, now go get Louisville! Don't bring a freakin' Rutgers or UConn in!! And we'll be thinking' about ya when we splitting up that $50 MILLION DOLLARS this cost ya!! The ACC wins twice on one decision!!

On the plus side...

Nov 19, 2012, 10:35 AM

it looks like 9 conference games won't happen and the rivalry game stays.

"Stalwart universities—Harvard, Princeton, Yale—most certainly offer status. The Citadel offers character. "

where have you been? 9 game conference schedule

Nov 19, 2012, 10:39 AM

Nov 19, 2012, 10:52 AM

can we put the heat on ND to go full involvement here to fill the gap?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Props to Maryland for having the balls to do what we wouldnt

Nov 19, 2012, 10:53 AM

And for you clowns who are still claiming we are better off in the ACC - well, even with an 8 team playoff system we would be screwed right now because of this sorry league.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The arguement is stronger if we actually WIN the league ...

Nov 19, 2012, 12:12 PM

As long as we come in second in a sorry league, there is very little logic in complaining about it being sorry.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was thinking we did that last year.....***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nov 19, 2012, 5:56 PM

Right now, we are 2nd place and we have only won it exactly once in the past 20+ years.

If the ACC is weak, and we want to make the point, then we need to win it more than once in 20 years don't you think?

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Can anybody tell me what happened with the big controversies

Nov 19, 2012, 10:58 AM

a few seasons ago ago about conferences raiding other ones? I thought a school had to leave their current conference before they could even talk to another about joining. The words tortious interference came up allot.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Do we get 1/11th ($4.5M ) of the $50M breakup fee?

Nov 19, 2012, 11:55 AM

Reportedly, UMD voted against the $50M breakup fee (like Clemson should have done) so I doubt that a court would force them to pay a $50M breakup fee that was imposed on them against their will. But if it were enforceable, I wonder if we'd get 1/11th of the $50M breakup fee, or if it all goes to the ACC office or if the ACC office gets 1/12th.

Smart move for UMD to get out of the dumpster fire that is the ACC. Big Ten has comparable academics, better football, good basketball. UMD will make more money and gain recruiting prestige.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

there won't be a 50m payout, the word is they have some

Nov 19, 2012, 11:59 AM

legal stuff going on with their lawyers/courts and it will be dramatically reduced, perhaps to half or even less.
