seriously tired of hearing "We know how to win"....

that's BS and everyone who's ever played the game knows it.
It's good fodder for half the fans and a media that wants a byline
when a team cannot straighten itself out enough to reach it's potential.
Only in the rarest of circumstances are there players who can "turn it on" when they want,
or reach another layer of competitiveness when it is most needed at critical times.
Those are the Joe Montana's, the Larry Bird's, the Michael Jordan's, the Magic Johnson's, the Tom Brady's.
And with all due respect, there ain't no Bird's or Jordan's or Montana's on this team... nada.
I get it, it's good to win, especially when you aren't hitting on all cylinders; a 'W' is never something to sneeze at,
it keeps us in the CFP hunt, it's good to beat a good team when you aren't playing your best; and yes,
the fun IS in the winning...
but the longer we hold onto the fallacy that we can turn it on when we need to, the more likely it is that
we won't actually focus on the things that would correct the problems... simple as that...
the more likely it is that we'll actually lose one we might should have won.
Win without your best, fine; just don't inundate me with BS lines meant to obscure the realities of the season.
And if you can "turn it on when you want", then start doing it in the 1st quarter from now on,
just to show you can.
Yeah; I thought not....

I have to disagree. "knowing how to win" is being able to grind out a game and win when you don't have your best and every championship team in history had to grind a few out. So I agree that this team knows how to win.

I swear I wouldn't even watch football if it made me act like this.....
I'd take up canoeing or some other ghey pastime to fill my Saturdays.
I think this team like last year can turn it on when they want. We have the talent and experience to do that but I think this game will be a wake up call that you need to have it turned on 24/7.
We have the best staff in the country. I expect a focused team in Tallahassee that takes care of business.

What are the " realities of the season " ?
I'd say our reality is that we are the 4th ranked team in the country , we're 7-0 with a bye week to heal up and we still have not played our best football .
I like that we are scraping by in a few games ...that just makes the National Title we win in January that much better .
Were you around in 1981 ? We played horribly against 3 or4 teams that year , and we won it all .
The reality is that football is an unpredictable , highly frustrating game at times .
We have beaten everyone to this point and our team is positioned nicely for the playoffs .
There's the reality .

no one ever came that close in 1981.
nor did we even ever have a game that year where a team was throwing "Hail Mary's"
at the end to win.
I get your point, and don't generally disagree, per se.
But the fact of the matter is that NCSU, not Clemson,
did everything "to win" in the last 11 minutes of the game the other day.
Clemson punted, then let the Wuffies drive it down our throats.
I'd say that calls for people to thank their lucky stars for the win, and
then say things have got to get better to reach our goals.
Saying "you know how to win" when in fact you didn't do those things is cognitive dissonance.
That's reality...

Yeah, fire Dabo and go back to wondering if we will or will not be bowl eligible at the end of the season. Things were great back then. Getting beat by Wake and Duke was just wonderful.
