Do not know Larry, but as a golfer like his program.
Did not care much for Rick Barnes, nor Oliver Purnell.
Frank Howard was around when I was still a UGA fan( my Dad was a graduate so we allways pulled for the Dawgs back then).

I wouldn't spit on Rick Barnes if he was on fire. The way he left and then instead of being honest and saying he did it for the money and the easier recruiting (and alleged infidelity) he claims it's the SC education that's the problem. I mean he's getting millions to coach basketball; couldn't he put his kids in private school?

I guess one of the reasons I like who I like, in looking at

Mar 10, 2013, 9:37 AM

my list, is their passion for my passion - Clemson University.

I wanted to put Barnes, mainly for his fire and passion while he was here - I loved the Dean Smith deal and him standing up to the tarholes. But his passion apparently was based on who was signing his paycheck.

Cliff - getting down on all 4 and kissing the Paw at center court - hard to fathom after being let go .... an amazing gesture.

Dabo - no mistaking his passion and desire to see my university sit at the top. I feel he feels it is his university as well.

Ibrahim - met him at one of his shops a few months before he died - passionate Clemson man through and through.

Danny and Bill - legends

I think your statement is true of every coach today

"But his passion apparently was based on who was signing his paycheck."

This is business for them....not fans in their business.

And now the soccer program is back on the ground.

Mar 10, 2013, 5:46 PM

We need someone else like him to come in.

Same for women's basketball, and INHO men's basketball as well.

passionate in your business and it not be motivated by the money.

I do understand what you are saying and at times might feel the same way.

I haven't personally seen anything from BB that shows me he is passionate about Clemson. He is working at a job. I could have missed it - so don't landblast me if I did.

I never saw that from OP.

I'm not sure I've seen it from Jack - but seeing him out there coaching wearing a halo was pretty amazing.

The guys on my list seems to me - really love Clemson University. They are connected.

2. Danny Ford - took us to the promised land.

3. Dabo - unmatched enthusiasm and getting it done!

4. Cliff Ellis - great guy. Had some of the most talented teams ever at Clemson and gave us the ACC regular season title over Duke.

and he beat USC, otherwise he was a mediocre coach - settled for alot of 7-3 and 6-4 seasons! His overall record for all those years was not that great - however, as AD too, he had everybody afraid of him. "I will never have a sport where people sit down and go backwards." Rowing is a pretty good "sport" for Tiger Women! Also, you were right about putting us on the National scene, almost a quote a week during the season, however were they laughing with us or at him?

Mar 10, 2013, 10:42 AM

So please do not take Dabo's exclusion as a condemnation ... I simply haven't had the honor yet!

1. Frank Howard: Never dull, but when you're a living legend, you have nothing to prove.

2. I.M. Ibrahim: His mind was always two steps ahead and he never wass much for hiding his feelings. Think Dabo, if Dabo had been born in Lebanon, not Alabama.

3. Bill Wilhelm: Occasionally gruff, occasionally profane, always a solid guy to sit and chat with.

4. Danny Ford: I'm betting he's more fun to sit and talk with now ... see Frank Howard.

5. Annie Tribble: No one else put her up here, so I will.

Strength coach and one time and he would hid in trees or other places and watch me run them to make sure I was "crushing" them enough. One year he signed like 6 inner city black kids to play tennis, they all looked like they should have been playing Saftey for football. He said he was tired of the bratie country club kids and wanted to get some real athletes here, coaches those kids was a huge honor for me because they all really wanted to be good. They worked hard. CK was awesome. He was a nut job but I liked him.
