prediction on expansion order of events

1. big12 takes fsu and clemson (yay! bite me, unc and dook).
2. sec wants vt and ncsu, but politics keeps ncsu from jumping.
3. big12 reacts accordingly and takes gt and vt to get to 14.
4. big10 takes uva and maryland to make 14.

I would almost bet that the Big 12 not taking VT was part of whatever agreement the conferences made.
As for the OP your predictions make no sense because you have the SEC being left out.

markb,
key assumption is that politics would keep ncsu from leaving unc's side, so vt would have no partner to round the sec out to 16.
if that is overcome, then i agree that the sec would take vt and ncsu.

i am not sure uva and vt are tied at hip. When vt joined acc it was more about making sure vt wasnt left out. I dont think they will be stopped from joining sec, especially if uva gets an invite somewhere. Or i could see uva sticking with acc even if it gets watered down.

I know the governor worked really hard in VA to ensure that VT and UVA are in the same conference. I'm not so sure they are so willing to just stand by and watch that be un-done. I see UVA and VT staying in the ACC for that reason alone.
Anyone from VA know anything different???
