Mom has made some slight progress in the past 24 hours or so. But there is still a very long way to go. Still basically no movement on right side though she has some reflexes when the nurse touches her foot.
MRI results in layman terms... on the left side middle and left side rear of brain, there is a blockage and damage.
We need to pray specifically for the clot to dissolve and swelling to go down, which will lead to increased bloodflow.

signs and symptoms were present which is good. Prognosis for early detection is pretty good.

occipital and parietal lobe damage - with the HC providers giving her little chance of survival. In the event that she should survive, she would be unable to read/write, speak, eat, walk etc. The 4th day in ICU I caught her pinky moving and said AH HA! 3 weeks later or so she was cutting jokes with her rehab therapists as she walked down to the fitness room using her own two legs. She was a Librarian so reading was a serious issue but her reading level returned around the same time, thanks to the hard work of the rehab therapists. Everyday, our message of hope and encouragement was a point with the pinky finger. Hang in there and we will be pointing a pinky your way!

Thanks for the encouraging words. Mom was a teacher and has a master's in learning disabilities and +30 in reading. I am hoping all that knowledge helps with her recovery! She has been pointing at us since the 1st day after being admitted and was never in icu. I am more hopeful than ever now. Thanks!!!!!!!

They will wear you out but keep going and tough it out because it will be the difference down the road. I do not recall how many weeks but there is a finite window (I'm thinking 6-8 weeks?)of maximized recovery. The level of recovery drops substantially after that initial window. Without question, ask about this window and ask for all therapy offered. Run this marathon and do not stop and you'll be so very thankful down the road. Mom's strokes were 8+ yrs ago and it was just a moment ago she asked what has Clowney done to be ahead of her Sammy. =)
