per texas source, its clem fsu miami gt nd pitt

With pods as seen on map attached, this is big

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wow, If true that is one formidable football league.

May 20, 2012, 2:13 AM

Has the SEC surrounded.

GO TIGERS!

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

a few things about this are striking

May 20, 2012, 2:16 AM

The pods are all balanced and geographic

The money from a league with Texas, nd, ou, and fsu is bigger then big

Nd has history with both pitt and Miami, wv has deep rooted history with pitt.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

May 20, 2012, 2:18 AM

Big12, but I find this scenario hard to believe.

Re: At this point, I do believe we are going to the

May 20, 2012, 2:25 AM

Same here we're pretty much in every "source" so there has to be some truth to it, but i just don't see Miami getting a invite at this point in time due to the NCAA violations. ND will push to remain independent.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

I just don't see how they can remain independent

May 20, 2012, 7:50 AM

there are a number of factors that could kill it completely....

1. the number of teams willing to schedule them is going to evaporate if leagues go to 16 games
2. TV money is better with leagues than their own agreement
3. they are going to be locked out of any big bowl games with these agreements in place with the other leagues.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

guess you meant 16 teams

May 20, 2012, 8:23 AM

not 16 games

pitt has a better football history, va tech has just been better recently. really, i think the big12 feels vatech will end up in the sec (jmo).

May 20, 2012, 7:32 AM [ in reply to Why would they want Pitt and not VT?*** ]

Not a fiery, competitive history, but the sort of history that neither wishes to resume....

FSU, Miami, Clemson, and GT is the same pod is rediculous...

May 20, 2012, 6:58 AM

It would be 4 of the top 25 football schools in history and 3 of the top 15 in the last 30 years.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that would be a remarkable football conference.

May 20, 2012, 7:09 AM

If we kept the canes, noles, and jackets in our "pod" I am officially all in. ND would also be icing on the cake. I would love to go to South Bend a nd relive the story that Lightbulbbill told.

Re: that would be a remarkable football conference.

May 20, 2012, 7:22 AM

I have to agree about Miami and ND being iffy. Clemson gives prescence in SC, GT in Ga, and FSU in FL, so they would have the same exposure in the SECs largest TV markets of Atlanta and Florida.

I see each team playing their POD teams and then 2 from each POD, a total of 9 conference games.

my question is what if Clemson and SC end up playing each other in this new bowl game! Can we see the rivalry 2x a year? It would be a possibility.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

SCjr twice a year....

May 20, 2012, 7:28 AM

It would be a possibility. WOW. That would be a great year for the Palmetto State. Imagine how much trash talking we would have to participate in. Tnet would need to double their bandwidth for about 6 months.

No Way We See USuC in the Champions Bowl

May 20, 2012, 8:49 AM

No way USuC will ever win the SEC, or be runner up to a playoff berth SEC Champion. They're garbage and will return to battling Vandy and Kentucky for a couple of league wins once the Ole Sack retires. When UF and Tenn get back to normal they will be waist deep again just like they were. All they have to show for the East being in the gutter since Tebow left is one division title.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: SCjr twice a year....

May 20, 2012, 11:17 AM [ in reply to SCjr twice a year.... ]

Would be fun, especially with 4 weeks of trash talking to build up expectations.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

one thing that doen't seem to add up

May 20, 2012, 7:15 AM

Pitt just filed a lawsuit to get into the ACC sooner. That says to me that this is a little more unlikely to happen. If Notre Dame and PItt are missing who would the back-ups be? Vtech and Virginia? (Because of the Virginia legislature they may need to be a package deal)..

Anyway, here is hoping

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

haven't seen the suit, but it was filed to get relief from

May 20, 2012, 7:20 AM

the bigeast i think. the request for relief would still stand if that's the case no matter where pitt was eventually heading.

funny pitt would be dropping $5mil, then another $20mil within a years time to drop 2 leagues.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

if you use a different word than 'pod' i'll buy it.

May 20, 2012, 7:17 AM

thanks for the map. looks great and if i had to dream a way to make this new big12ih work for everyone, that looks to be about as good as you could do.

thanks again.

May 20, 2012, 7:32 AM

Nice colorful pods. You should have been a painter.
I used to paint by numbers, but in your color scheme two things just don't match up.One is Pittsburg is joing the ACC in 2014,and in all my reading,in all the commentary I have seen or heard the Big 12 has an interest in FSU,Miami, and or Clemson, but I do not recall anyone discussing Ga.Tech.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: per texas source, its clem fsu miami gt nd pitt

May 20, 2012, 7:36 AM

Atlanta is a college football gold mine with UGA, GT, Clemson, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, and FSU all within shouting distance. It would give the Big 12 prescence in the mouth of the SEC and the SEC Championship Game.

Very smart move if it can be done, plus it adds to the academics of the conference.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

plus it adds to the academics of the conference,

May 20, 2012, 8:33 AM

that'll no longer be the case.In order to compete each school with lower themselves to WVU and SEC standard.

Don't know about your info, but I've all along

May 20, 2012, 7:41 AM

that it wouldn't be just CU and FSU. For the BIG 12 to get this TV/Bowl deal I feel they've promised to go to 16 teams and I wouldn't be surprised to wake up and see the headlines claiming up to 6 teams are leaving the ACC for the BIG 12. But then again ND and Uconn/Penn St to the ACC headline wouldn't surprise me either.

After Friday's announcement....

May 20, 2012, 8:56 AM [ in reply to Don't know about your info, but I've all along ]

There is NO WAY Notre Dame even remotely considers a move the ACC. It's either The Big 10 or the Big XII for them.
