Tampa not a football town?

Was talking to the new guy at work last week. Asked him if he was into college football, and he said he was a pro guy (from Philly). I told him I was a college guy, but had been a Buccaneers fan since 1978. His response: “Tampa is just not a football town.”

I told him it would always be a football town to me, after I went there and watched my Tigers win a national championship. I may have been to only one Bucs game there, but Raymond James Stadium will always be a special place to me. And the Bucs won their one Super Bowl a month after my youngest child was born.

They love their Bucs, even when they suck. And there are boat loads of alumni clubs packing sports bars all around the Bay area. Tampa is absolutely a football town. Plus, Plant HS and Armwood HS are national high school programs right there in (and around) Tampa with packed stadiums Friday nights. Tell that ignorant Philly POS to shove it.
