Saw him and Big E play, my very first pro game vs 76ers.

Those Bullets always struggled but the games were always on Channel 20 WDCA. The teams in the mid to the late 70s were above average. Kevin Grevey, Mitch Kupchak, Chenier and Dandridge.

All those guys seemed huge back then.

And those shorts had the women hoping someone forgot their jock...

Unseld was a good player and even better person.

I'll never forget seeing that scowl of his when he coached the Bullets. And those were some really bad Bullets teams, so he scowled a lot.

Prayers for his loved ones as they process his death.

I had Freshman English with Wesley and Butch Beard at UofL. Both nice guys!

one time... at camp...

Unseld did a presentation at Vic Bubas' basketball camp on rebounding and passing

he could toss the ball off the backboard, catch the ball, and spin in the air and with two hands on the ball, throw it over the backboard at the other end of the court... before his feet hit the ground

one of the camp counselors was standing at half court, guy was probably 6'2" and 180 lbs, and Unseld knocked him down with the ball, when Unseld's 'outlet pass' hit him in the chest so hard

Jeff Mullins was in charge of the camp... he said that when Unseld got position, he owned it, no one could move him

Unseld was as nice as he could be. spent a lot of time with the camp kids, way over his scheduled time, showing footwork and positioning for rebounding

I went to the Wes Unseld Basketball Camp.

Wes was always there, stayed all week. He had players come in to help. I got to go one-on -one with Phil. It was a great time. I remember Wes taking a rebound off the backboard, spin in the air and air mail it done the court without touching the ground yet. Amazing player knowing how to use his body. At only 6'7" . .way undersized height wise. But he knew how to use his bulk and strength. Great man.
