This didn't suck:

Dec 27, 2012, 7:55 PM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JK_DOJa99oo

I thought it would suck, but it did not. It was awesome! Gave me chills and almost brought me to tears.

The arrangement and chorus were amazing

Dec 27, 2012, 8:27 PM

brought the nod from Jimmy. Plant nearly shed a tear.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The other covers sucked, but that one was OK.

Dec 27, 2012, 9:12 PM

Unfortunate format in that zep couldn't perform or even speak. To me, anybody doing covers of the honoree is less than ideal. But throw 1000 good musicians on the stage with a classic tune, and it worked out. I'm not a Heart fan, BTW.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't care for Heart either...

Dec 28, 2012, 8:27 AM

But the arrangement with the choirs was awesome although it should have been Plant and Page onstage.

At first, Plant looked like, "My God, there mucking up

Dec 27, 2012, 10:33 PM

our song!". By the end he was wiping a tear from his eye. Pretty cool.

It was great until the 3:40 mark, then I had to throw up.

Got some chills. Even a full on erection at 3:40

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that was a really good cover

Dec 27, 2012, 11:18 PM

of an amazing timeless song.

Zep was the best ever. period.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ok, i take it back

Dec 27, 2012, 11:28 PM

you have to watch it multiple times to get the full effect.

at one point Plant looks at Page and says "this aint bad..."

when the curtain comes up and all the back singers are rocking and screaming....
yeah.
that is a REALLY good cover.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would give it a 5 on a scale of 10***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

did you know john bonham's son was playing drums?

Dec 28, 2012, 12:17 AM

the other 3 seemed to give it more than a 5 of 10.

FYI

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

oh wait

Dec 28, 2012, 12:23 AM [ in reply to I would give it a 5 on a scale of 10*** ]

when the curtain comes up and all the bLack singers are rocking and screaming....

There has never been a black person that liked any song

go to the 6 min mark for the famous jam. I can play better than that lol

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Did not suck at all!***

Dec 28, 2012, 7:52 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I've got to be honest, the vocals on that were

Dec 28, 2012, 9:02 AM

haunting, the "a woman should never sound like that" kind of way.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Good? or Bad? I think she has an odd singing voice, but it

Dec 28, 2012, 10:35 AM

worked VERY well with that arrangement. It is a slightly different take, using the choir and saxs to add to the layers, but it was great. Not LZ spectacular, but it was still great.

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I ended up enjoying it, just started a little rough.

Dec 28, 2012, 10:57 AM

Maybe she was laboring too much to begin with. I hated the vocals on Rock and Roll, I guess Dave really just wanted to play the drums on that one.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That woman is 62 years old.

Dec 28, 2012, 12:54 PM [ in reply to I've got to be honest, the vocals on that were ]

If you followed her career you can tell the changes she has made to accomodate her loss of range.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That is supposed to scare me less?

Dec 28, 2012, 2:26 PM

I've also been called out as being a music sexist. There are very few female acts I like and most I can't tolerate.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Heart has been my favorite group for 30+ years.

Dec 28, 2012, 12:49 PM

I still think Karen Carpenter had the finest voice this side of Elvis but I have to admit, no woman ever rocked like the Wilsons.
