If they have a season, I will sit and enjoy every second that I have to see my Tigers play bc, I don't know how many more seasons I have left in this life time to see them, but I'm sure that it's not as many as it has been, and I will fully enjoy every single one of them even if it's only a two game season!!! Go Tigers!!!!!!

college football is about it.
They'll screw that up soon too, but I'll watch it at least until then.
ESPN might as well be MSNBC.

Why dont you just watch the games and not the other talk? Once sporting events are on, nobody talks about politics. They are just the games. Same as they have always been.

The announcers interject commentary not related to the games The networks and league have banners and signage not related to the games The commercials are all preaching to us.

Mute the TV and listen to good rock and roll during the game. If you can't tell what is going on in the game without announcers - watch cricket.

I agree, and everyone should understand that Dabo and those kids that play their heart out to win FB games, and to make Tiger nation proud of them, none of the above had a thing to do with infecting our country with a Pandemic killer virus, covid-19, China did...
No one representing Clemson in sports, any sport, has had a thing to do with what's going on in sports. Dabo, our coaches, and our players want to play FB, but the powers above them are judging if it's safe to play, and they will be ready to play when they are instructed by those powers above them that it's time to suit up and spot the Ball. A good Tiger fan will hope to see our Tiger FB team play regardless of when they get to play, or for how many games they get to play. If the game/games are televised, I will watch every down win or lose bc, I love Clemson FB more than any sport that is played, and if it wasn't for my love of Clemson sports, I probably wouldn't watch any sports at all. Paw Power forever, Go Tigers!!!!

mentality from younger generation. I would have given my "eye teeth" to have the God given ability to play in college, go to school for free and get all the "perks" these kids get. I realize it is a lot of work, but that is part of the fun (one would think) I just don't get todays youth. I seriously don't think they could survive Johnstone Hall

I am watching golf, but nothing else.NASCAR lost me years ago, same with Major League Baseball and Basketball. I would have watched The Triple Crown had they run it in order. I refuse to watch reruns of pro football or pro baseball, but will watch Clemson CFP games, including, yes ,including the loss to LSU.It is interesting to see how that game played out, even with the loss.

Due to ESPN sports shows being nothing other than white bashing and race baiting - I have turned them off. I used to enjoy some of them, but to constantly hear how bad I am as a white person when I have done my best to treat people well - has taken the fun out of sports for me. I enjoyed sports to get away from politics. Now, can’t hide there anymore. I understand the need to reflect, adjust some attitudes, prosecute criminal behavior of all races - but I have had my fill of it shoved down my throat.
I am done with pro sports for sure.
Will watch and play golf. Will fish on my boat every few days - I retire at the end of august.
I hope my college sports passion returns. But, if not, then it is what it is.

NBA - Done after Jordan retired from the Bulls MLB - Always be a Cards fan but the greed is staggering NHL - Love my Preds, but next season will be fine, no need to push a playoff NFL - *sigh* I'm a Titans ST holder, but am really dismayed at the direction the league is going.
The rest are simply the rest to me, I've actually started watching UFC and kinda dig it, until it gets to the point it looks like two 8 year old boys wrestling in the living room.
I used to follow USA soccer fanatically, even belonged to the American Outlaws, but did not renew my membership this year due to the kneeling thing. Sad
College sports is about to change, and IMHO, not for the better. Maybe it's time to get off the grid and raise alpacas.

#metoo on the UFC. I like to watch the women too. 1-on-1, the women's "game" in this sport seems just as entertaining...that is, since they are not running, jumping, doing lots of power moves, etc. I don't perceive a large difference in athleticism. I know I'll probably get flamed on this, but as sports people you know what I mean. NBA and WNBA are different games. Ditto for soccer and hockey - much slower.
I wish there were a good website to go to that lists every company/product that supports socialist, leftist agendas so I could stop giving them my business.

Yeah women's UFC has become better than the men.

The fact that the men are all so good makes a lot of men's UFC fights akin to watching a chess match.
It's the same way with Tennis, the women in short skirts are more fun to watch than the men who serve at 120 mph. More rallies mean better tennis and women rally more.
It reminds me of NASCAR, the equipment and drivers got so good that the racing became less exciting.
Sometimes more skill means less entertaining.

"Improvements" in equipment have rendered many courses obsolete, and have made some layouts once revered almost unrecognizable. We used to have guys that looked like Nicklaus, Stadler, Zoeller, even Daly, and now we have Arnold Schwarzeneggers all over the place. I only watch the majors any more, and even those are getting harder to watch.

No doubt my enthusiasum has waned.

The Covid thing has helped ween me off of sports in general, kinda' like how stopping drinking soft drinks due to a kidney stone can cut your addiction to caffeine.
Additionaly, the whole political slant that all sports have taken really prevent me from caring about any team. ESPN is basically CNN now with anchors who know who the sports stars are.
I haven't watched much NFL the past few years since Kapernick took that knee. I would occasionaly throw on a Texans or Raiders game to see how the Tigers were doing, but I don't think I'll even do that now. Honestly it started to fade when the NFL rejected Rush Limbaugh as a minority team owner while letting Bon Jovi buy shares in the Patriots. You're allowed to have an opinion in the NFL as long as it's the opinion that has been validated.
NASCAR is dead to me, not for Bubba Wallace, but for the whole sport becoming so bland.
The NBA, used to be a Hornets Season Ticket owner, but since it started to become a "mega dream team" league I lost interest. Lebron's leftist ideology hasn't helped win me back either.
I used to watch the Braves religiously for 30 years but have lost my ability to sit down for a full ballgame anymore. And the fact that Atlanta has become such a riotist, liberal minded place does not make me want to support any Atlanta teams anyway.
I never watched the NHL much and probably still won't.
I had gotten into the Premier League just a bit, but the BLM shirts told me that they don't want my fanhood either, which is fine.
As for the Tigers, I'll watch. But after the rally they had, I have actually gotten less enthused. I won't go to any games this year and won't be clearing my calendar to watch the games. I probably have purchased my last piece of Clemson merchandise for a while too.
I realized, like you, that sports fandom is a choice. If sports isn't an escape from work, life's worries and politics, then why bother?

The rally achieved a few things
Jul 8, 2020, 9:58 AM
|
|
One, it was a first as far as major college athletics, now there's #metoo rallies out there afterwards.
Second, it took the heat off Dabo and Pearman when that was dominating the news. Doesn't mean it won't come back, but at least we have time to line up the ducks.
Third, it was a player led event, which gives them credibility in whatever movement you believe in.
Last, it went off fairly smoothly, other than a few 'necks showing their arses in town. Funny how that was the headline, not the rally itself.

I see you mentioned the rally. I wonder if the leadership in the athletic department and the football players even knew or know now what the BLM organization even stands for. I personally did not know until this week. I know the leadership had to support the players, I get that. I doubt the players had any idea what BLM as an organization stand for and what their mission statement says.

I will try to continue watching football but I've already given up on all other sports. I find that just watching the games, and ignoring all of the pre and post games propaganda, helps but if they insist on telling me during the game how evil white people are, or how disadvantaged all those millionaires on the field feel, then I'll turn it off and never return. The NFL has displayed a stunning amount of gutlessness over the last few weeks and I don't see any reason to support a group who will hand their league over to a bunch of America/white people hating Marxists because they are too scared to tell them to pound sand. Let the NFL fill their stadiums with all of those same America hating folks, while running off lifetime fans in the process, and see how long they last.

I’ll watch & enjoy same as any other year. Never once ...
Jul 8, 2020, 2:33 PM

In my life have I felt compelled to ... Consult my financial planner for medical treatment, Ask my dentist to fix a plumbing problem, Hire an Electrician for lawn care, Taken my truck to an account for maintenance, Listen to athletes, sports commentators or entertainers for their political opinions etc.
For me, it’s easy to compartmentalize sports simply for entertainment. If someone doesn’t get enjoyment out of watching sports, it makes sense for them to stop. I respect sports watchers and non-sports watchers the same. It’s simply a personal choice.

Yeah I get that. It’s a personal choice. But athletes have such a big platform to influence youth and when my personal views become so polar opposite as those of “entertainers” I simply can’t support them anymore. I stopped watching the NFL when Kaperwhatever took the first knee. If college athletes follow the same path I done there too. If I have to turn off college football I’ll say “doggone it “ and go cut my grass. If I have to turn off college basketball it’s going to hurt!!!! But I will.

To each their own I guess, but I've always been able to watch sports and not pay a ton of attention to things like this that they may talk about for a few minutes at a time at the most. Even when I am paying attention to what's being said, I don't take it as an attack on me as a white person. I know that I'm far from racist. I know what's in my heart, and feel that I treat all people fairly, so why would I take it personally when there's talk about certain other white people not doing the same?
Everyone has a right to feel however they feel. It's just hard for me to understand giving up something you enjoy watching simply because they're going to probably talk about racial rights for a few minutes over what'll probably only be the first few weeks of the season.

I agree that if that's all it is then its not going to be a big deal. However what happens when players start burning flags at midfield? This is just one seemingly extreme example of something that we would never thought possible before a couple months ago but now doesn't really seem too far fetched. Once the woke mob smells blood in the water they always push it to the extreme. Now that everybody is kneeling (or else) they will need to do something even more extreme to promote their agenda. And if anyone dares question their actions they will be destroyed. The NFL needs to grow a pair at some point instead of hiding under their desks and hoping this all magically goes away.
