The NCAA rule says something to the effect that you can't do anything that calls attention to yourself or taunts the other team. So technically, Dwayne Allen's salute could be considered a foul-- as could CJ getting down on one knee-- which never gets flagged. But the refs have a lot of leeway, and I thought they used their discrtion poorly. A salute should not be a foul.
However, it probably makes up for the refs failing to call a well-deserved penalty against Miami, in the end zone after a TD, when Dwayne Allen taunted the crowd by raising his hands (thumbs touching) and making "The U" gesture. As soon as Dwayne Allen scored against UVA, I said, "I hope he doesn't make some needless gesture and get a penalty." That's exactly what he did. The coaches need to tell him to put a lid on it.

Is it just a coincidence that the ACC Atlantic Division Champs trophy is located just in front of a cash register? I think the conference, TDP and Dabo let out a collective "cha ching" with this win!!
