Awesome news and a great coach. Hell of a hire by Dabo, curious what he had to pay to lure him here...

In the article it says in the neighborhood of 300,000. But I read that he was making that much 2 years ago at Duke. If we are offering him similar money, and he was assistant head coach and co defensive coordinator how did we pull him offering him similar money to coach the DE's?

is an incredibly unique opportunity. If you're a younger coach like Rumph, you do not pass that experience up. He'll gain a ton of knowledge learning under a great coach at a great place.

Same reason Rumph would leave for Alabama. Learn new ideas.

From the pedigree Hobby has, it seems we have taken a step up from Rumph. And wasn't Rump learning from Steele the same as Saban does at Bama. Just wondering about the Bama system and the one Steele uses....

Sometimes, a coach will take a little less pay to come to a better team. It pays off better in future moves.

It sounds like he will be a good replacement for Rumph.
(and he didn't go to South Carolina - win/win)

Better at coaching the position than Rumph, but I cannot remember how he did on recruiting when he was here.

seems we always have the great recruiters who are OK at coaching. I'll take the ok recruiter who can coach these young men up! At least this coach has a few years experience and sounds like he should have a good base in north carolina too. go tigers.
