In 16 seasons in the Big 12 Missouri won the division title outright 1 time and shared it twice. This was the Nebraska, Kansas State, Colorado, Kansas, and Iowa State. They went to 2 championship games and were throttled by Oklahoma both times (think Auburn vs. South Carolina kind of throttled). This was a middle of the pack Big 12 program that benefitted from playing in the much weaker northern division.

They've been pretty good the last ten years

Nov 28, 2014, 6:34 PM

Weren't they around the top 5 when Chase Daniel and the guy before him were there? The point is that they were much better than mediocre when they went into the SEC. I still think they've done much better than people expected, though.

UGa has to be pissed after they throttled Mizzou earlier this year. Can't lose to bad SC and Florida teams if you want to win your division.

Mizzou sucked in the Big 12

no

Nov 28, 2014, 6:39 PM [ in reply to They've been pretty good the last ten years ]

In 2009 Navy crushed Missouri 35-13 in the Texas Bowl and it wasn't as close as the score. That's just 5 years ago.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

we beat them 62 to 9 in 2000***

Since Pinkell took over in 2001 they were 47-42 in Big 12 play. That was all in the North which was by far the weaker division. They were average, but if you put them in the South with the big boys (Texas, OU, etc..) then they would likely have been a sub-.500 team in Pinkell's stint. Yeah they had a good team when Chase Daniel was there, but I mean in 2006 Wake went 11-2 and they're a bottom feeder. Mid level teams have potential to have better seasons at times, but over the course of their stint in the big 12 and even when Pinkell was the coach they are a middle of the road Big-12 team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

they were pretty much like your texas tech team..

Nov 28, 2014, 6:43 PM

had their above average years but were pretty much average at best..not the worst team but not great either..i just find it funny because a middle of the road big 12 team has taken the sec east by storm two division titles in three years.

They were 8-5 and 5-4 in the Big 12 their last year in that conference....In other words pretty mediocre.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

they have won 14 of 16 SEC games

Nov 28, 2014, 6:45 PM

I doubt they ever won 14 of 16 Big12 games.

Or 14 of 16 Big8 games.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

3 yrs in the SEC and they have more

Nov 28, 2014, 7:00 PM

Re: So a former Big 12 nothing....

The whole off season preceding their entry into the SEC I remember all the talk coming from the ESPN ditto heads was about how long it would take them to "catch-up" to the SEC in talent. Many said it would take 10 years.

Three years and two division titles later I've not heard one of them admit how wrong they were.

Yea, I so remember that too...it's so funny now

Missouri has 2 straight SEC East titles while beating 1 SEC

Nov 28, 2014, 7:52 PM

team with a winning conference record (Georgia 2013).

In other words, they didn't choke against teams without a winning record.

that is correct.

Nov 28, 2014, 7:59 PM [ in reply to Missouri has 2 straight SEC East titles while beating 1 SEC ]

There's no way to spin this other than that the SEC is not as good as ESPN claims it is. Missouri and Texas A&M proved that a middle of the road team from the Big 12 can compete in the SEC.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

and, Mizzou got stomped worse than Clemson

Nov 28, 2014, 8:36 PM

By Georgia. Crazy game and greatest conference in college football. And the money is just beginning to start rolling in for all SEC schools.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I wonder if Mizzou fans are thinking...

Nov 28, 2014, 8:54 PM

Why didn't we join this conference years ago? We're great now!
