Not to look ahead, but Clemson @ Duke next Sat......

Feb 2, 2017, 11:00 AM

This is a 1 pm tipoff....following Duke hosting UNC that Thursday night.
Very quick turnaround for Duke.
It seems to me that opportunity may be knocking.
First things first....@FSU and then Syracuse

FSU is coming off of a stretch of 3 road games in a row, the latter being a win at Miami after losing the first 2. FSU has not lost at home this season. Let's just say that the odds are against us here.

Syracuse has won 3 in a row (Wake, FSU, @ NCSU). They host UVA Saturday, which probably puts their win streak in jeapordy. This will be a tough one, but this is a must win home game for us.

Hoping to split the next 2...and then see what happens at Duke....with the UNC game right before, you have to think that will help us in some way.

If we can't hit FTs we will not beat FSU or SU.
Both teams are flying high right now scoring lots of points.
We will have to play much better than we did vs Pitt
And GT.
To beat FSU or the Cuse.

Winning at FSU would be the better W. I think we can get both.

Ah......No

The last time Duke lost a HOME game immediately after playing North Carolina was 1982, 35 years ago. Duke has lost a few road games including last year at Lousiville after beating UNC at the DD.

35 years since Duke lost at home following the UNC mid-season game. It is also amazing how many of those games have been against Clemson over the years.

Coach K does not let his teams have let downs in February. They are just too good.

So, you are saying they are due?***

That being said....the point of the original post was the quick turnaround, which is different from other times when this scenario may have presented itself in the past.
Not so much an emotional letdown for Duke necessarily....but the physical toll of the quick turnaround will have some sort of effect. Not saying that we'll be able to take advantage of it or they will play terribly, but it is worthy of note.
For what it's worth Brownell has struggled mightily when we have had quick turnarounds....which is why the Syracuse game will be all the more difficult next week.
I would take a 1-2 record this coming week and we should all jump for joy if we pull off a huge road upset. I don't expect we will though.

protect home court advantage at all costs

that gets us to 18-12.

if we steal one on the road - it won't be Duke -

then all the better.

but 18-12 and 1 win in the ACC should be NCAA material.

#10 seed, playing a #5

which is almost a guaranteed upset for us...

nice to see some optimism around bb***
