Got the mid cycle power bill update. From 06/28-07/13 the charge is already $81.00. Is it possible that the AC situation was just that bad from 06/28 until 07/07 Or do I have some hobo growing pot under the house now?

nah, Idk.
For real though, assuming you have Duke, they show you a graph of temp vs avg (similar home) vs usage. Look at that and see if it makes sense to you.

I'm lucky, half my house is built into the side of a hill. I cut my AC off when I leave for work at 7:30am. When I walk back in at 6pm, I can still feel the remnants of the morning's AC.
Good insulation is worth its weight in gold.

After much hemming and hawing I elected that the duct work needed the most attention. Insulation would not have mattered with the service line issue. I am a little annoyed the contractor I worked with when I had all those initial repairs done didn't make it a higher priority.

Halfway through the month is much too long...by the time you see a problem it's too late for that month.
You need to check that power usage daily. Sometimes I have my wife stand outside by the meter and call out the usage in minute intervals over the walkie talkie so I can input them into my excel file.
Nobody screws Obed, nobody...especially not the power company.
