would much rather see a local place move into Clemson, but franchisers see a lucrative market and space to buy, and they move in as quickly as possible.
Clemson could really use a non- sub sandwich, non- wing place though. That seems to be pretty much all there is now.

John, the owner of Ancheaux

was my rec baseball coach when I was 12. One game at Ashley Dearing, two of our runners were thrown out of home back to back with the catcher blocking the plate each time and the ump didn't call an interference(blocking the plate was against the rules). John got so pissed at the umps that he walked off the field right then in the 2nd inning. We had to forfeit,
True story

Agree with Pot Belly but Jimmy Johns is much better than Quiznos and Firehouse. Still all of those except Pot Belly are chains which I try not to eat at. Clemson needs good local eats to be a great college town not chipoltle and jimmy johns.

I absolutely loathe Subway but I'd pay double for a lousy Subway sub before I'd eat at another Jimmy Johns.
Of course, that's just me.

Why so? Aside from the pot-smoking college kids who act indifferent when you walk in, I haven't had any problems in the Charleston Jimmy Johns.
They use the freshest, sweetest tomatoes I've had at a sandwich shop. Their mayonnaise isn't overpowering. And the bread is good.
I'm with you on the Subway, but in my experience, Jimmy Johns is better than Quizno's and Firehouse.
I am, however, tolerant - and won't hold your loathing of a great sandwich against you. _

The parent company filed bankruptcy and the fall-out from what can only be described as gross financial mis-management, has put many of the franchisees out of business.

I was sad to see it not there the last time I was in Clemson for a game. That was one of my favorite places the few years it was there.

Its seems like they were always busy and doing well. I think the owner either got in trouble with $$$ or something. They delivered until 4 am which was awesome, and it was basically the same as Jimmy Johns, but a tad better.

I want some churros. The are the best thing I've ever eaten. I can survive from now till I take my last breath on churros and churros alone. I'd be a fat SOB but I'd be happy. I think they are 70 cals apiece and they come in 5 or 10 so that's usally 700 cals for me on a trip to JinB. Only $2.11 for ten of them suckers, and it's filling.

What the heck is Jimmy Johns? Just another sandwich shop?
I also agree with the general consensus here that Pot Belly Deli is the best spot in Clemson for a sandwich. Definitely legit.
