The conference was better and more interesting when you played everyone once in football and twice in basketball. No one had any place to hide as far as unbalanced schedules. Just one mans opinion

I hear ya, but to face Duke and UNC every year was not that special.

The matchups are far more exciting and intriguing now. UL with VT, UM, and Pitt on rotation keeps it a bit more interesting.

I think George Welsh had more to do with it than Hatfield.

UVA was very good from the late 80s through the late 90s.

The UVA team that beat us 20-7 in 1990 for the first time ever was better than the Duke team that Danny lost to in 1989 and the State teams that beat us in 86, 87, and 88. That UVA team went to the Sugar Bowl.
