Further to our discussion last week, Joe now defines rich:

Aug 24, 2020, 3:07 PM

rich > $400k

I'll be interested to hear more about this proposal but its clear their internal polls are showing his biggest weakness is the economy and taxes.

Biden is trying to straddle the fence now.

Aug 24, 2020, 3:16 PM

He clearly can't win on the promise to raise taxes. If he doesn't stick with that message the greenies on Bernie's team won't believe he is serious about fulling their marxist dreams and won't vote.

I do not believe he will ever face a real reporter, hard questions or a debate with Trump but anyone who takes a side on raising taxes can either believe what they want by ignoring half of what Joe promises or vote for Trump. It's just that simple.

very unpopular platform of raising taxes, lowering benefits/programs and shrinking our military.

That will be the only person that is telling the truth.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Someone should run on an actual healthcare reform platform.

Aug 24, 2020, 3:23 PM

If healthcare costs could be reduced to reasonable levels, then government spending on Medicare and Medicaid would drop without cutting benefits.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thats going to necessarily involve gov't single payer.

Aug 24, 2020, 3:25 PM

Because they are going to have to subsidize it for everyone.

There's at least ~4 million people who go for that right off the bat.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It would involve a lot of regulation.

Aug 24, 2020, 3:40 PM

I don't think single payer is the only solution.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

how about just send republican voters over 60 to the wall?

Aug 24, 2020, 3:47 PM

that would be a very socialist solution and appeal to the AOC / Castro loving crowd.

young lads around.

Didn't Greece try that a few years ago

Agreed to participate in austerity measures, then voted everybody out that agreed to it.

even with no state income taxes.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Since my household income is less than that...

Aug 24, 2020, 3:24 PM

seems like a reasonable number to me.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

$400k puts you in the top 5%.

Aug 24, 2020, 3:25 PM

If you're doing better than 95% of the country, then it's reasonable to call that "rich." If $400k isn't an impressive figure, imagine how much is sucks to be in the bottom 50%.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

1% at $730k is higher than I'd seen before

Aug 24, 2020, 3:49 PM

This article only shows >$422k at Top 1%

Looks like one article might be 'average' earnings in the bracket, while this article is 'entry' earnings for the bracket.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Joe needs to be careful with the 'no new taxes' approach

Aug 24, 2020, 3:54 PM

While the income bracket adjustment will be >$400k, there might be other ways tax burden is increased for lesser incomes. Changes in standard deduction, business/llc income, social security limits, etc.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's not like he's worried about reelection.***

Aug 25, 2020, 10:28 AM

if you make less than 75k your employment tax will go up in 2021 anyway, funny how that kind of worked out.

Re: Further to our discussion last week, Joe now defines rich:

Aug 24, 2020, 4:00 PM

I don't think you can say making 400k is "rich". It depends where you live and your family. I don't think that's a good call.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

$400k ain't poor anywhere

Aug 24, 2020, 4:12 PM

I know folks making $400k sending kids to private school in NYC. They're doing just fine.

$400k feels a whole lot better here in SC considering housing and taxes, though plenty of places to live like NYC prices if they'd like.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

isn't there a differenece between doing fine and being rich?***

I don’t think there are really any absolutes...always depends on your perspective.

I agree. Its not rich in NYC. It's just not

Re: Further to our discussion last week, Joe now defines rich:

Aug 24, 2020, 5:27 PM

I don’t understand how liberals can be rich. I thought they would give away anything over the avg income for their respective residence for the greater good. I mean why wouldn’t they live what they preach?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You think liberals work or even earn >$400k?

Aug 24, 2020, 5:34 PM

I thought all libs were takers not makers.

Liberals are the fabric that holds our nation together...
