I would imagine letting wealth disparity continue to expand would do it a lot more efficiently.
Why are you guys only scared of downward wealth redistribution? Upward doesn't bother you at all. Explain why one is better.

are you talking the downfall of the Roman Republic?

there were lots of moving parts but it wasnt really rich v. poors in the concentration of wealth sort of way. Cicero, Cato, etc... were not rich.
A closer analog would be the downfall of Czarist Russia but that's distinguishable as well.

We don't have anything resembling a free market in America. That's why it's so odd that people think we have one.

Like many, you probably assume that the things that limit a free market are only the things you don't like. But food regulations limit a free market, as does professional licensure. Plenty of things that we'd never want to get rid of are limits on a free market and those things are plentiful.
If we had a truly free market it would probably be a catastrophe.

Also, huge lol at you wording your reply like wealth isn't a real thing.
You're so defensive of rich people that you need to act like what makes them rich isn't really there.

There's enormous wealth distribution in this country already. Illegal aliens and their chain-migrated families (ever see how large a Spanish family is? Probably not) cost us $146 Billion per year. Don't even try to advocate socialism when we are most of the way there already with 47% of the population that doesn't get up and go to work in the morning. No country is going to succeed by taking from those who produce and giving it to those that do not.

Most of the way to a socialist country? The vast majority of those people not getting up and going to work each day are retired, a stay at home parent or still in school so what exactly do you want them to do?

That's about as relevant to the situation in South Africa as a congressional candidate in Brooklyn.

outright socialism is scary. I remember when the GOP was calling Obama socialist, it wasnt true but Democrats defended Obama by saying he's not socialist. now, just a few years later its embraced. Dare I say it, Obama is too conservative for today's Democrat party?

don't worry alex, the current trend is for the extremely wealthy to keep increasing the gap and they have high priced lobbyists making sure this socialism thing never takes hold.

The history of South Africa is far, far different from our history.
Apartheid has it's price and they seem to be paying it now.
At one point, 10% (white) of the population of South Africa controlled 100% of the country.

The socialism thing is something, nothing more than something to energize the youth and minorities. Even Pelosi is talking socialism and the congressional dems are pretending to turn their backs on her.
They came out for O but not for hillary.
