As a Louisville fan I hope not. Our D is doing well but our offensive situation is as bad as it has been in a long time. Special teams have been terrible as well, but being in the ACC should help out our recruiting. New coaches, QB's, conference, that's a lot of change for a program to handle, give us a couple of years, we are rebuilding.

Charlie Strong put some good players in place. Right now you are no worse than 3rd in Atlantic , maybe 5th/6th overall in the ACC

your HC coach has never been known as a good recruiter and being in the ACC sure isn't helping much yalls recruiting right now.

The Cards had 3 first round draft picks last season and a 3rd rounder is starting MLB for the Bills.

From 2004-2007, no team in America had more NFL players drafted than Louisville. The disaster of the Kragthorpe Era was just rude, lol. I mean major rude.

They are delighted to be in the ACC in football because they think they can compete. The program has had a fairly steady arc upwards. Almost ditched the entire idea in 1985, lol, then hired Schnelly and commmitted to the sport.

Yeah, we are also delighted because of the hoops and the baseball. We just owned everyone in baseball.

One aspect not mentioned here. The academic standards at Louisville just got raised by coming to the ACC . Now , that's not a slam at Louisville , cause I think they have started to get national respect over the past few years. But , they won't have thenabilitynto accept guys that would have gotten in there in other years .

they will have to get to ACc academic standards soon and their thugs will go away..also this taking every thug that get kicked out of other programs is about over..give the ACc a couple of years

Petrino has a certain Reputation...and the Reputation he has is that he's a slash-and-burn specialist who doesn't recruit well, especially on the defensive side of the ball. He tends to oversign on offense, puts up gaudy numbers...and then historically has run along to his next big gig, usually with very little warning or notice, leaving his previous employer holding the bag. He also has a reputation for leaving a locker room filled with problem children and discipline issues who must then be cleaned out.

It'll be interesting to see what he does this time around. Louisville got him to sign some fairly restrictive buyout clauses in this contract, but it's still going to be fascinating to see what he does as far as recruiting, especially defensive recruiting. And he's already taken aboard several problem children who got themselves kicked out at UGA.

Best guess is that Louisville is very good next year - they lose almost nobody, and have zero seniors listed on their 2-deep - and will be pretty good in Year 3. After that, it's kind of uncharted territory for Petrino, since he seldom has stayed anywhere that long before.

What are you talking about?

Oct 13, 2014, 12:54 AM

They have a ton of senior starters this year. They are going to lose their starting RB Brown, three starting offensive linemen, their best WR Parker and 2 other main starting WR, best defensive player Mauldin, starting linebacker, starting defensive end, and a few others I can't remember.

They will still be good. But they most certainly will lose some big time players.

If Miami ever gets it stuff together

Oct 13, 2014, 1:35 AM

Louisville will be in trouble, because they are taking a bunch of talent out of south florida due to Miami either being on probation or being in the toilet. Once Miami figures it out, Louisville levels out at around Nc. State

There is enough talent in Miami and south Florida to go around for UofL. The 2015 class is full of kids from all over the south and Louisville is known for taking two and three star kids and sending them packing to the NFL. Teddy was a four star and chose UofL over the big three. Our facilities are top notch and our coaches are some of the highest paid in college which helps to keep them here. We also recruited from Florida heavily during Petrino's first time around and Grantham seems to be doing well in defensive recruiting, but like you all have said the real test will be time.
