everyone screwed up. We were not prepared, but were warned many times going back to the SARS outbreak in 2004. We've know for quite some time that a virus could pop up like this, but did nothing under 3 administrations to get the country prepared fro a pandemic. i guess we just did not believe that it could happen to us, that and Americans are on a cultural level are skeptical of authority and remained willfully ignorant to gravity of this.

Florida already gagged medical examiners from releasing death numbers as has been standard practice for years. Seems the media pulled data from the medical examiners and it was higher than the state data. But wait.... There's more.

Without reading your article I already noticed something SC did. Yes we're playing the game too. We haven't had a solid 2 week downward trend either. So we ramped up testing levels to decrease the percentage of positive tests to create a downward trend in positive results. Same overall number of people getting sick, but a steady decrease in the percentage of positive results. Two week decline with no appreciable decline in actual cases. Bingo. We can reopen. Meanwhile precautions are ordered. Businesses are complying but people are not.
