Syracuse Review

Syracuse Review
This game was not pretty, but you will never hear me complain about wins. As long as we come out with a W, I will take five more as ugly as this game this season. Saturday’s win improved Clemson to 10-0 for just the third time in history. The other seasons were 1948 and 1981

Clemson is # 1 largely because of DW4 efforts. When Marcus

Mariotta was leading Oregon to the top or near the top of the polls for 3 years, you never heard the pundits talk about their d. I see that happening hear, the highlights of the Syracuse games were DW4's plays not the play of our d. or our turnovers. I was shocked at all the Tigernetters who did not think or even want Clemson to be on top of the polls again.

I really don't agree

Syracuse playing with a "reserve quarterback" is a reason to draw concern. Many of their chunk plays were made in their running game with the option (which by our players accounts doesn't sound like they fully prepared for in game preparation). And sorry that people keep forgetting to look at this, but it was that same "reserve QB" that played against LSU. And vs LSU, he threw for 154 yards, BUT 3 TD's...where as vs Clemson, he only threw for 80 yards, and O TD's, but got 76 yards rushing with 2 TD's. So the play vs that QB and Cuse's receiving core was just fine as far as the passing side. It was him in his option running that got Clemson, and some of that is with scheming and confusing defenses.

LSU vs Syracuse (34-24 win LSU):

Clemson vs Syracuse (37-27 win Clemson):

The issue is Clemson getting caught off guard by the option, or players out of position, leading to Syracuse getting 242 yards and 3 TD's by rushing. That is what needs to be fixed and IMO is the bigger concern.

I think Venables straightens our D and DW4 keeps on leading us to win!
